Hello from the Riff

Hi I'm Theressa and I am from the westie wastelands of Sydney. I am looking at building a combat robot with my son. I have little to no clue at what I am doing but I am sure it will be an interesting and exciting learning experience

Hi Theressa and welcome to the forum. Feel free to ask questions, everybody has to start somewhere so no question is a dumb question.

I wish I could invite you to build your machine in my workshop, but alas, the distance would be a small issue.

Greetings from Belgium.

That's awesome sauce that there are some sorta locals. I have some big ideas and I really want to do an assbots competition now. Currently life situation is taking me away from fun things for a bit. But in my downtime I think I will refine and build upon that premise for assbots thunderdome.

My son and I have a plan to make a robot called the combat wombat and I have the parts from the botbits ant kit and I printed the greenant from the site to see how things work. I have zero knowledge on how to do anything electronics wise so this will be a learning experience for us both.

If you have any handy hints for someone starting out from scratch lay it on me

That was cool but I am not sure that person has ever actually seen a wombat though. It looks like a mix of koala and dingo but not a wombat.

My son wants the combat wombat to have moving legs like a wombat so I am going to have to figure out a way to get them to move like legs using wheels. I will get him to draw them up in f360 because CAD hurts my little brain and I want to skill him up now while his brain is still young.

Most handy tip is ask a million questions. Best way to learn and the people on here will be more than happy to help.

If you need parts for a featherweight i got a stack of parts in the garage buried somewhere
