possible new lot of cheap motor combo's
well guys after finding that bunnings were haveing trouble keeping stocks of xu1's in my area and not being able to find a website i got some ozitzu's then went and sent them an email here is the contents
To whom it may concern
My name is Wayde Marr and I have sent this email as the spokesperson for www.robowars.org (an Australian based combat robot group similar to Robotwars in the uk and Battlebots in America), basically all of our robots run off drill motor and gear box combinations to drive a 13.6kg robot around to attack another 13.6kg robot. because of the nature of the sport and the weight class that we compete in we see very little point in putting equipment that costs large sums of money (although there are some robots that have been built by competitors that have been built for prices well and truly over the $2000 mark) most robots to date have been run off XU1 12v cordless drills that are priced about $10 cheaper than your equivalent if your company was to make a drill that didn't neccassarly have to have tools with it (screwdriver bits) and didn't have to look fancy or have variable speed control than it is almost certain that the robot builders will use your products or if you were to make available the drill motor and gearbox setup for sale it could very well end up making your company a lot of money I personally have bought approximately 100 XU1 drills for my robots and I know that many others buy lots aswell. Another thing you could look at is making a cheap 9.6v drill.
The main reason why we chose to use drill motor and gearbox combinations is for the ease to mount wheels to them and that makes it easier to get new people into the sport aswell as young people from 10 up as our youngest competitor is 10 years old which goes to show you how easy it is.
any way today i got a reply (i dident expect to get one and hope no one finds the part where i say im speeking on behalf of us all rude or that im trying to be bigger than i am i just thought it would sound more professional and that it would help us out ^^)
Wayde,
Can you please forward phone contact details as I would like to discuss further.
Regards,
Mike Brendle

Its tempting to vote that way to. We could have at least let us proof read the thing for you. Your spelling and gramma may better then mine some days, but it still ain't perfect.
Still giving you a 10 for the effort. _________________ Get Some!!!

Ok then, Who are you and what have you done with the real Wayde.
BTW the 2 speed Ozito gear box is a 3 stage with all metal gears, at least the one I have found is. _________________ Bots that do not destroy you, only make you stronger.

If they can provide the gearboxes like Nexus says, I'm ready to place an order! _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/
It came with a 12 volt fan cooled Johnson and has a longer than usual output shaft.
Motor mount twists off easy and the gear lever feels very solid when you shift gears.
The pinion gear also seems larger than usual so not a bad little setup overall.
Usually the 2 speeds have speeds slower and faster than the 1 speeds so even at 12 volts at high speed it should move along guessing something like runing a 9.6 volt setup at 12 volts.
Anyway I wouldnt mind another one of these. _________________ Bots that do not destroy you, only make you stronger.

hey george, after cobras once more getting hammered because of busted drills, i think ill be moving onto those ozito things,
what ozito drill was it specifically, any idea of the 2x rpms it has and do the pins look any bigger than the xu1s?
Sorry to hear about those pins again but onya for having a go at the twisters.
Cant be too much help with the Ozito details as picked it up used for next to nothing with some single seed ozitos.
Threw away the case over a year ago but remember it was red, the single speeds where a blue/purple.
Had a look at the pins for you and they are only 2mm thick on the rear 2 stages.
The ones you are using atm are probably 3 mm but dont know if thats a problem if it holds together.
Have to wait to see what Wayde comes up with _________________ Bots that do not destroy you, only make you stronger.

Good job
It would be good if we could then get cheap motor and gearbox combos for like $5 cos once you remove the rest of the crapola it should be very cheap
Postage should be cheap as you can get 6 motors and gearboxe combos in a $9 express bag and for the price we should get them at on there own you might as well get 6 at a time _________________ Tim Team Reaper.
