The radios sound unreal, they operate on 900Mhz & have either 16 or 32 channels. Instead of using a stick transmitter, you can plu in up to 4 PC joysticks. They work out fair expensive but then again you have 32 channels & 40 different frequencies.
Watch out for radio gear specials - they can get you in a lot of trouble...
In Australia, the only radio frequencies permitted for hobby use are 27, 29 and 40Mhz. You can get radio gear these days that don't use crystals, they operate off manually dialled in frequencies (no fragile crystals to break). I'm not up to speck on the insurance issues for robot combat in this country but with cars, boats, planes and heli's, very soon all radio gear must conform to (and be tested to) Aussie standards. No insurance payout if it can be found that un-approved radio gear was involved in the claim.
Don't forget that in this country CASA (the same mob that fines airlines hundreds of thousands of dollars) is
just one
of the government bodies that are looking over the shoulders of ALL radio / radio controlled activities in Aust. - I don't ever want a fine the likes that they hand out..... _________________ There is no such thing as excessive carnage.
