just asking becuase not sure what program to use to start on a layout for a bot. Might be a good idea to make a layout if i have to try and make it be a lightwieght
I found just sketching large designs on large (A3?) cheap paper pads are a great way to work out ideas with out getting too technical... you can do it at school too! _________________ ( •_•)
i honestly have trouble drawing a straight line with a ruler ( ruler ends up moving ) so thats why its safer on a pc where it can make it straight for me

you dont have to draw it out straight just give yourself a general idea of what you need done and whack in the dimensions. thats what some people do for specific parts but i dont know anyone who does it for a full robot design.
what my head thinks half the time the real world cant do it but i will try and see how i go thanks

Drawing a bot in detail is a great way to pick up design flaws. You can draw a bot with many layouts. Keep every drawing. You can look back over them for inspiration.
I have 50 - 100 drawing beside my chair in the lounge room. Karen doesn't mind a bit. _________________ So even the rain that falls isn't actually going to fill our dams and our river systems

There are quite a few free CAD programs too - try a quick Google Search and you will find quite a range. There are a bunch of CAD forums as well, with helpful experts around. If you get a popular program, there are libraries of pre-drawn bot parts free for the taking so you don't have to do so many of the fiddley bits.
I use Corel Draw (which is crap but I know it backwards) and TurboCAD, which is cheap. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion
