My name is Johan and I am from Sweden.
I have been building combat robots for some years now but I am tired of Sweden. I want to travel and Australia seems to be a nice place.
I plan to build a 454gram (sozbot) but first I need to know how much resistance I can expect from you . Simply, how many sozbots do you have in Australia and where do they hide .
Brisbane seems to be intresting, any sozbots there?
It's either a sozbot or a electric helicopter. Must be light so I can bring it with me on the flight .

1 and a half soz bots and an unused arena in Brisbane. I think my brother and I are the only builders in Australia trying to stick to 454grams for robots under the feather weight class. Sydney builders like 1.5kg instead.
You'll have more compitition building a feather weight, but ants might be interesting one day.

1.36 kg for us sydney chumps
mainly because its easy to hack up our old radio control cars and use things like those $8 dick smith cordless screwdrivers for dive etc.
EDIT : hehe yeah welcome

I also talk to Joacim Plus Mario, and Kos every now and again
Nothing isn’t absolutely sure really. I am only in the planning stage.
The basic idea is to settle for a while in Australia. Maybe Sydney as it would be fun to compete with robots. But first it would be nice to have a look around the east cost.
I eventually need a permanent job in the CNC-branch. Hope it isn’t hard to find, maybe you fellows have a clue (in Sydney)?
The only thing I am worried about is the climate in Sydney. It’s a lot warmer than here in Sweden but I have read that the temperature drops to 12C in the winter. I hope I won’t need my Swedish winter clothes . It was -10C this morning and that’s only the beginning. I want to live in a place where I can swim in the sea all year around . Maybe better with Brisbane in that aspect but then I loose the robot fighting.
Have to scrap my plans for the sozbot and aim for a beetle then...
Is Slash (the spinner) the biggest danger these days? Have to make something nastier than it then.
And yes, I am a friend of Joacim and Maddox but haven’t met Maddox in person.
Nice people both of them.
And thanks for the warm welcome .

At the moment Australia has historically low unemployment. People with qualifications are in short supply. We have recently increased our skilled migrant intake. _________________ So even the rain that falls isn't actually going to fill our dams and our river systems

I have to wait with building any robot.
I don’t think I will stay in Sydney (beetle place) and feather weights are too heavy to fly with.
Well, have to save the money and maybe build some thing when I arrive. Boring until then…
Would be fun to have a robot with me from Sweden.

You could probably fly with a small featherweight, but then its all the tools, chargers, and other robot gear that makes it hard... You can still build a beetle there's afew around to battle and more being planned. _________________ ( •_•)

Come to Brisbane, Johan. You can drive Marauder and I am sure that other builders will let you drive their bots to stop you from getting bored. We will be able to help you find the parts you need to start building your feather. _________________ So even the rain that falls isn't actually going to fill our dams and our river systems

Thanks for the kindness Philip. Would be a good medicine to keep my interest.
I think I buy a good radio and start with radio controlled airplanes so I have some thing to do when I wait.
Maybe I can get some things done for a future featherweight meanwhile.
Would be cool with a pneumatic crusher. Almost like a mini version of
Mithril
.
Mithril is a partly finished HW ~8000kg pneumatic crusher that I and my friend Markus have built. It uses a 140mm bore 132mm stroke ram at high pressure.
