I now have enough stuff to start a building thread.
But only god knows when it will be finished.
I hope to get a nice job and access to machines when I come to Brisbane.
Not much is completely decided. But I think it will be some thing like this:
Full pressure crusher as weapon. Using a 100mm bore 44mm stroke ram. Mostly made out of 7075 T6 aluminum.
All that force will go thru leaf chains and become torque around a grade 5 titanium axle. The leaf chain has a minimum of 36400N breaking load. I will use a set of two.
The force at the crushing point is hard to tell (maybe it will be more like a scissor design). I need to do some designing and thinking to know such things.
It will be a lot and it will come down fast. That’s all I know.
20oz aluminum paintball tank to store CO2.
Drive will be two TWR15 motors and electric power will come from Li-poly batteries.
I don’t know which speed controller to use.
I hope to use Armox/Hardox or some thing similar for body/armor.
7075 T6 aluminum
That’s enough for two rams if I don’t make any thing wrong.

Hi Johan .Welcome to Aus .Nice new material looks impresive .the deshighn sounds interesting also .
I have had a similar idea tucked away in my head for something like that but have never found the materials as yet .Get in touch with us Qld builders when you move here .looks like we have some serious competition comeing our way

OMG! That is soo the quote of the day Will be interesting to see a pneumatic crusher, I'm guessing this one will be similar to TAN? _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/

its the 100mm bore that I'm worried about. Ain't that 4.25 ton at 750psi? If he's worried about snapping a chain that has a breaking force of 3.6 ton, I'll start looking for something other then chopping boards for armor.
Plan-C gets 13 shots out of a small paintball cylinder,
thats at full power too, we have as yet only managed 1/4 power before breaking something ;-> _________________ Mechanical engineers build weapons, civil engineers build targets

TAN is a horizontal crusher isn’t it, considering the size of a lot of Ausie Feathers the arms would have to be huge, run out of weight points and the length would reduce the crushing force to the point of being useless on all but the flimsiest bots.
I would stick to the Razer style if I were building a crusher, there is less variation in hight and a lot of local bots have thin top / bottom armour.
Anyhow; welcome from the Rotwang team Johan , hope everything works out for you.

Yeah very impressive! Just wondering where did you source a chunk of Ti like that! _________________ ( •_•)
The design will not be like TAN.
It will be a vertical crusher with a twist . I can more easily give you info when I have some CAD pictures etc. to show you.
Daniel: The force from the ram will be lowered to get more travel. Maybe to low at only 5.9KN at 50bar. That's a 150mm arm that can swing 116*. If I have calculated correct.
But this can all change in the future...
I got the titanium from a company I practiced at. The company did a lot of things for military applications.
I hope to get a faster progress with building now. I can use some machines at school and Im eager to get stuff done. I fly to Australia 7/6. Not that much time left...

I have a question for you in Brisbane. Can you give me some advice in renting an apartment? I will be traveling with two friends. They will stay for eight weeks but my plan is to stay longer as you probably know.
We don’t have such high demands. Don’t mind much sharing bathroom/kitchen. But it would be good if I could continue living at the same place when my friends leave. Then private bathroom would be nice .
Any areas that you can recommend? Would be nice to be near Kangaroo Point as I climb. So fairly central.
