lol usefull!
Here's mine... it was a store room and still IS a store room but its where i base my workshop (its quite cramped lol)
Driveway http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v424/dyrodium/P8070312.jpg Its next to the plastic bag behind all that fencing stuff)
Entrance http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v424/dyrodium/P8070313.jpg (note, actual door is smaller than it appears)
Inside http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v424/dyrodium/P8070314.jpg
Its not THAT bad... but because it wasn't designed for people to be living inside, the bricks shed this bloody annoying white dust that gathers extremely fast. Also you can see that i dont like to chuck things!

It should become better when i get a tip bin outside for all the raw materials and get some decent bench tools. Smile

I dont have a garage/workshop where I can make too big a mess with bits of metal at the moment,

But I like my TechnoMagic Cave.. Wink
Heres the workbench

and the computer side (The Interface)

with a front view of them all humming

and the evil Dr Rotwang (Gary) in his workshop (unless he gets around to posting one of his own pics)

With the ability to shape steel like he can (Lathes, Grinders, Mig Welders, Presses, Bench Drills, and a scrapyard full of "Natural Resources" just outside, I think I'll stick with the electron-magic.

Well here is my Techlab O Wonders...

The R&D section of my workshop:

Basically my computer with gaming tools attached.

The Workshop:
Part A: Storage, tools, parts, mess..

Part B: Welding, bending, hammering, drilling, breaking...

Transportation: This area gets me to the shops for spares and parts

@Brett: I noticed in the piccy of your 5 monitors, you have a Microsoft 5 button explorer laser mouse, you have Neo Trace running in the bottom left monitor, the background in the main monitor looks like it's from the Gibson system in the movie "Hackers" and your running dual matrix backgrounds. Wow, pictures are worth a thousand words hey Razz

Keep all of your crap. You always need a part as soon as you throw that part away. You might keep crap for fifty years and never need it, but resist all thoughts of getting rid of it.

That works really well until it comes time to move house.. Shocked

Actually, a good junk pile is a treasure-trove, but you need lots of space to store it relatively horizontally.. I have a cupboard full of milk crates of bits that I often dont fossick through because its such a pain to get to the bottom crate ! and thats electronic parts that are much smaller than robot-junk..

Actually it was only after I got into Robot building that I realised why I had been hording junk all my life.

Just remember that junk expands to fill the space available.

I've just moved house.

I'd say never, ever collect anything - but of course I needed stuff two days after I chucked it so it wouldn't have to be moved to the new house.

I am thinking of dividing my robot work area in half. It is a 6 m * 3 m bay of a three car shed.

I think that if I make two 3 m * 3 m rooms I can do all of the messy stuff like the drop saw, angle grinding and drilling in one room and the cleaner parts of construction in the other room. Metal filings go everywhere at the moment.

I could also air-condition one room so that I can be in there all year round.

Very Happy i have got a 150square metre workshop the problem i have is that the bench put aside for robot building usually gets used more than the ones that pay the bills ....i new i would regret taking my hobby to work with me ,what adds to the dillema is i have 3 engineering buisnesses below and beside me and i constantly see robot parts everywhere i look Rolling Eyes

Just posting a cheesy tip to help sort the clutter in workspaces that I have been doing for a while that does help a bit.

Have been sorting out crap by using meat trays. The plastic moulded containers your chops and sausages come in. Not the foam ones, they wont work.
It might sound weird but its very helpful ie, you pull apart a 2 speed drill and put all the parts in a smal plastic tray and your done. Just stack them somewhere.

It costs nothing and you end up with a way to keep your bits organised better. You end up throwing these things out anyway so just wash them and use them.
If you’re a vegetarean. Then your on your own.
