Nah, they're just some massive Blue LED's I had lying around. Not sure if I'm going to leave them or not. I've got his tail to wag and blaster to go in and out, but they both need a bit of tweaking to work properly. Ears and then head movement are next.

K-9 for the 21st century!

http://www.drwho-online.co.uk/newseries/k9a-promo-dwo.jpg

I was expecting AIbo or an RS-01 robot dog (probably the worlds most advanced robot dog), however they have retained the key design features so it is unmistakenably K-9.

DM

P.S. Thought the rusty K-9 on the new series episode was a nice touch, even if slightly out of character for a future robot.

Here's just a few more pix of inside K9. I still have to get his head moving and ears working but everything else is basically done.

Looks like theres plenty of room in there for more stuff if you want to keep adding to him.. Smile

2.4Ghz Wireless Video Camera, TV Tuner card on your computer to receive.

Recharging station (Shaped like a Dog-Food bowl ? Wink that he can drive into and engage a couple of prongs to refill the batteries.

Then a Radio-Tx -> Computer Interface, and some form of position-sensing (GPS ?) unit, and you can map out pre-programmed patrol paths through your house for him to follow in your absence.

Small PA Speaker, Amplifier and a recording of a big dog barking to trigger when someone pushes the doorbell when you're out.

Capture the video signal from the camera and auto-upload to a password protected website (a-la-webcam), add a web-driven remote control interface and you can drive him around the house and look at what he can see from anywhere in the world.

Remote-controlled doggie-doo dispenser and rotary blade/thresher to simulate scratching of the furniture etc - OK, Maybe thats getting a bit silly.. Laughing

But with a ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle), the possibilities are endless.. and if hes going to be a K9, well you might as well have some of the benefits of owning a dog.. Especially one that has an off-switch !

Good Job Smile
