240 x 350 x 8 = the entire base plate of Avenger. Very Happy

They come in packs of three. You get one of each color. I think it was $11 for a pack. Maybe. I can't remember.

This'll fix the drive and chain problems.

Unfortuantly its bigger now. The same length as before and 120mm wider.

Hmm, the U-profile (chain support&protection)... will get very easily bent.
The same goes with the small ramp thingys in the front.
That is my gut-feeling. Rethink Question

And the two big cones on the axle. What are they for?

I would rather those steel bits get bent then the chain and sproket getting damaged. And I'm not sure they will cause that much of a problem if they do. Nothing that a hammer couldn't fix.

The "cone" bits are wheel hubs from cheap pneumatic tires. I could cut them down but I like to leave them there to prove how cheap the thing is.

I was getting a lot done and it was looking like the frame would be done toda until I had to drill 2 holes. 2 hours later I have done one hole and I don't have enough time left. Now to get the old Avenger going. Just needs bigger wheels and wires soldered together.

Isnt it always the way ? Rolling Eyes

Thats why leaving all those "10 minute jobs" until the night before is a bad idea.. (not that I'm accusing you of doing so, just that I know how you feel).

It only takes 1 stuck nut, stripped thread (or equiavlent) to turn a 10 minute job into a 2 hour one on occasion.

Yes, 2 hours to drill what turned into a square hole, but 30 minutes to rebuild the old robot.
The new wheels are the 150mm ones from the version of Hellbringer that got from one side of any arena to the other in under a second. There must be something about these wheels as Avenger drives with the same sort of style. Even though it has only two cheap drill motor it has to be faster then King Cobra. But only if I drive it backward. It suffers from the worst case of front wheel drive that I have ever seen, so it will be limited to only 20% for driving forward.
It also looks better now. There was no way to fit the wheels into the wheel gaurds, so they have been removed. So its changed from the typical boring brick shape to a more hardcore, aggressise design. Huge wheels and enough ground clearnce that it didn't slow down when went through the garden. So if the motors don't burn out, which they shouldn't since the are 18V motors rather then Hellbringer 9.6V versions, I'll modify the CAD of the new version with bigger wheels. Because looks are important and you do win fights because your robot looks good.

I know I need new drill bits. But everytime I let my brother use them they end up blunt. I think he goes through one drill bit per hole.

I don't want to loose anymore. My robots have been in 12 fights this year and I have only won 1 ot those fights, and the other robot blew up before I touched it.

The things that went wrong yesterday:
Crap motor mounts
Crap wiring
Weak frame
Chain derailing
Not being nice to the batteries
Batteries magically appearing to pass through the armour
Broken hammer handle

All of these things should be fixed with the new version, but I'm still not happy.

Good things:
Hammer might have been good
Thwackbot attack

The new version won't spin like it did yesterday as the wheels won't be inline with the center of gravity. But it is damn tempting to build a thwackbot. Except its not an aggressive robot design. I'll finsh what I have and see what happens.

The frame for the new version has been welded. No photos because I think my welding is ugly, so I'll wait a few weeks and paint it first. I still haven't decided on a colour for it yet as purple LED's for the neons are harder to get then I hoped. Red is easiest as I have the LED's already but red suits Adversary more, so it might be yellow/orange instead. Choosing a colour is the hardest part of building.
