Little Brute - The War Lord - SA

I wrote a story then a song, now how should I write this one.

How about seriously
The ‘Little Brute’ how has it come about? Well I was packing up at a pile small bits and piece’s. Then low and behold there it is. A baby bot is born 3lb in all.
A couple of motor connected to some wheels, and another motor strapped in the middle of the wheels, with a blade or something attached. Some support legs attached, batteries, baby speed controllers, receiver, and hay presto there it is a baby bot.
Now all I need to do is make it strong enough. If it hit anything at the moment, it would self-destruct.
That might look impressive but it isn’t going to win and comps like that.

Here is a pic of the design, and I will update as the bot develops.

Well I haven't added any thing to here (or any other's of my bots,) So I thought it was about time.

Little Brute was a little scared of all the big boys so he needed his big brother.

His big brother is a Feather weight.

http://robowars.org/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=352

as you can see in the pic, the wheels are the armor, and the center support arm is what stops the weapon from hitting the floor.
I plan on having several support arms, set at different angles to be able to adjust the hieght of the weapon from the ground.

at the moment I am getting prices for having the parts cut to shape.

The design is about 95% completed. need to take out a bit more wieght, finalise the support arm, add mounting points for the IBC, Bat, etc.

And I spose you are going to ask for specs, well here are some of them.
(Specs may change with out warning as design is not finalised.)

Chase / Mounts:
Base Plate 10mm Alu
Motor mounts Alu
Gearbox mounts Alu

Electrical:
IBC Speed controller
Sanyo RC3300 12V packs x2

Drive train:
XU1 motor & Modified Gearbox with output shaft support
Wheels, 200mm Dia. 4mm thick water pipe with 8 x 5mm spocks and center hub

Weapon:
Motor, Mag (The large one)
Spinning bar with 1Kg ball of steel at each end
Slip Clutch (to help save the motor)

Dimenstions:
200mm long
430mm Wide
250mm high
510mm Weapon

Currently weighing 12.5 Kg, but needs to loss anothe 500g for bolts and electricals. but I dont see it being a problem.

Well RoboWars is over. I have recovered, and happy with the test runs I had with little Brute.

It may not of looked that good to most. But the tests have sorted out a couple of problems that I need to know.

I will put a build report to gether later.

for now current issues.

Weapon

Large weapon just to big. (I sort of new that any way)
Small Weapon not strong enough

Wheels

The wheels I got were to heavy, so I made some tempory ones. Need new wheels

Suppot Arm.

I had a temp support arm to work out the correct angle. Need to make the correct one.

Weapon motor relay

could not turn on weapon motor to full power. Body of bot turned not the weapon.

Have to have a speed controller with soft start for weapon motor.

Just sorting out the failsafe & Rampup / down part of the program for a FET relay. This will sovle the problem

Other wise I am very happy with the current progress and it should be sorted out very soon..

Reply to TNT from ‘Scissorhands - team OverKill – NSW’ thread.
(just keeping it out of Nick thread)

'Little Brute' or more commonly known as 'Lil Psycho'

was originally built at the 13.6 Kg spec.

Due to wheels not being made to spec it was over weight by about 1.6Kg

In testing found some probs

1/ Faulty motor. (blow IBC)

2/ made mistake in CAD. Weapon bar holes offset from center 3mm
Never balanced

3/ Wheels not made to spec. extra 2Kg added (not good)
Need to find a different way of making them. (time caused problems)

When I have time and funds. upgrades will be

Ti weapon bar
Ti wheels
Modified Drive train
