Have been developing a pop over last few months and will probably start welding in a week or two. Its really just a drive system atm but there is a fair bit of weight being used just for drive.

The parts list that have been used so far come from the following parts.
4 large angle grinders, 2 small angle grinders, 8 sprockets, 4 chains, 2 x 2 speed drill gearboxs with 775 size 18 volt johnsons with everything mounted on 2 steel bulkheads.
Those parts are just the transmission and will run 4 exposed wheels like Spyders but about 25 percent narrower

Havent even thought about what the weapon will be as will have to see what weight will be left over.
Weight balance atm is very ideal so will be a very easy and fun robot to drive and hopefully very tuff.
Final decision left to make is to choose from one of the ideas that have been brewing on how to keep all 4 wheels on the ground all the time. Have three concepts happening and just trying to decide which one will take getting hit by spinners better.

Really look forward to getting this thing driving.

Managed to get my old analogue video working so heres some screen grabs.

Nothings really secured and the foor is just a cuttin board atm. The sides still have to be shortened at the front when I decide what the front is and the wheel hubs have to be made so still a fair bit to do.
The main bearing blocks for the wheels are secured but still need a second bearing on the ends. The shafts used for the wheels are form large grinders and to give an indication of their size the thread is 14mm steppipng up to 20mm on the outside then stepping down to 12mm going through large bearings so lots of goodness there.

No secrets here just a drive train but trying to make this tuff and very efficient, even though it will be 4 wheels powered by 2 motors it will be very efficient so hopefully lots of power getting to the wheels and with the batteries sitting between the rear wheels weight distribution should be rather decent.

Other noice thing about this robot is I can use KingPIns wheels or Pinschers or Spyders as have standadized a wheel pattern hub so will double as an off road hoon mobile and have the option of a low gear if required.

man i got so much damn respect for u

once again u bring out something thats completely different and completely bad ass

im using same motor setups in my rambot (there the 24 volt hammerdrill ones) so hope they work fine for u caus im doing practically same thing but driving back wheels directly and belt driving the other wheels off them

One robot it reminds me of already is maximus/blue max

keep us posted on how it goes bud but all round looks really mean and hope it goes well for u

also whered u get those wheels from?

Add Spyder's weapon to the front Cool

EDIT: Are those 2-speed motors 18v GMC's? If so, I might have some spares for you Wink

What are those wheels from? They look fairly hardcore and grippy! You might want to check out a product called "belt grip" Jason was using on razorbacks tires last event. It basicaly makes the rubber compound a heck more sticky for a match, and you can clean up the wheels and re-apply it pretty easy. Smile
It would make all that drive train weight worthwhile. Very Happy

The wheels are not as grippy as they look unfortunately but they are strong, figure you can add grip separately, They are cut from a large hose probably used for fuel supply. Some of you might remember a tube that Daniel Marshal had brought in at the last robowars, it had dunlop written on it. The tube has multiple layers of cloth and has 4 wires embedded in a spiral throughout probably for running power to the end of the hose.

This is the same material that Spyders wheels are made of and having received at least 3 direct hits on the right wheel by Snak Masheen, think they have proved themseleves.
Will have to add something for traction later on, maybe like on Spyder, maybe not but will definitely be cutting a paticular pattern out of them to collapse when hit as well as bounce when dropped. Will put pics up when doing the wheels. The hubs are same as Kingpins 6 inch wheels and the tube fits rather well on the hubs. Think the Keros also used these hubs on PQs weapon.

@Aaron yes think they are GMC, spares welcome as they are not the same identical gearboxs, one has 5 gears at final stage – prob a hammer drill but both have same ratio and a double D output which made it easier to work with, and yes would like to try Spyders front end on it for constant in your face annoyance… and aggression points Cool
