Vega - Team Nightshade

Vega is, with any sort of luck, going to be Team Nightshade's first lightweight.

I plan to use two of my King Right motors for motive power and belt/chain drive them down 3:1 to largish pneumatic wheels to get a wicked top speed. Want to make it look something like the US middleweight bot Ankle Biter (http://www.battlebots.com/battlebots_detail.asp?ID=67)

Its going to be a challenge keeping this thing under weight as the motors weight 5KG EACH, but with the extra couple of kg that the lightweight class looks like it will be getting, I think I can do it. If at all possible I would like to use 7ah SLA's for cost reasons, but in reality it looks like ill be spending money on NiCd's/NiMh's to save weight. Will share my RS80D speed controller with Singularity to save a bit of money, and because it will handle the big motors easily with the current limiting and thermal protection.

Going to do the chassis a little differently this time. Instead of my usual integral frame and armour aproach, im going to make the frame out of box section and then bolt the armour to it. Im sick of breaking welds and twisting the chassis whenever the bot takes a hard knock, hopefully this will fix that.

Im going to have to bolt handles to the robot so it can be used for a nar cart whenever its not battleing Smile

BTW, does anyone know if the name Vega has already been used? I couldnt see anything in the robot database, but that doesnt mean much.

As long as you dont put those big flat plates on it. I lost count of how many times that bot lost by being stood on its back. Rolling Eyes you would think after the first one or two, that he would have put a spike or something in the plate to stop it from happening..
