I thought this was cool, the reason why 2024 and 7075 (and 6061!) are *impossible* to weld.

question, will having a welding magnet near the tig welder stuff things up? seems like whenever i have a welding magnet near the arc goes spastic and you can never weld them. which is a bit frustrating for the little tabs Razz

Someone never returned my welding book, but yes, I recall something about eddy currents in the work generating a field and pulling the arc. Perhaps you need to clamp it?

its a charged particle in a magnetic field.
