18 volt DSE Drills discontinued

Well we were getting ready for the 18th Nov and used up our last 18 volt dse 900rpm drill. We went to get more and it appears that they have been discontinued.

We have'nt been keeping up with what people are using so the question is.

What drills are people using atm. We need replacements that will fit in the existing robots, which rules out the 24 volt models as I believe there longer, and the 2 stage gearbox ones for the same reason.

Is anyone still using ozito's etc from bunnings or what???

I`m using Kmart Maximate 12v drills, about $18. Just the same as the old XU1s. Pretty sure they have an 24v version as well $?

Nope not bunnings, I also found out they were discontinued. In my experience the motors suck bad but the gearboxes are good. At last robowars Aaron and I did a trade and I got all his old bunnings or similar 18v motors. So far pairing them with the dse gearboxes has been flawless.
I don't actualy know where you can get equivilents though. arg. Evil or Very Mad

i think the standard drills are better anyway. the DSE motors are just way way too weak and the RPM gives them the extra load they cant handle

Yeah, the 900rpm boxes suck compared to the 550rpm boxes. Schmackhed "should" have done around 12-14mph with the wheels and over volting, but spent most of it's time stalling the motors out... Having the urethane wheels didn't help the situation either....

Thank's for all your help guy's, we did manage to find one set of spares so that will do for the next couple of events hopefully, however the future, We will have to look at some 12 volt or so varieties. That has ythe other advantage of lowering battery weight.
