Well got a fair bit done today and have had a bit of a drive around. Total weight so far is 9kg and can hopefully lose 1kg out of the jaw. Will also lose 2 cells of the batter taking me back to 12V as it is currently slightly too long for where i want it to fit. Few other mods need to be made and i need to learn how to setup my rates on spectrum to make it easier to drive. _________________ Steven Martin

Been very quiet recently. Uni has been quite demanding. Have jack rod thanks to the kerrisons so the next thing to do will be to replace the threaded rod with that. Then need to do a bit of lightening and weld the frame properly.
Hopefully should get a bit done this weekend, hopefully. _________________ Steven Martin

Well got bot driving today. Current weight is 6kg NIC crusher arm and motor.
Still needs a plate at the front and maybe some armour at the back but should have around 3 - 4kg spare.
After getting initial bot up and running might have enough weight spare to make into an actual crusher rather than a grabber. _________________ Steven Martin

if you have that much spare weight look into maybe either yes making it a legit crusher, adding a heap more armoud, more drive power or addint another actuator/whatever to make it a clamp/lifter _________________ Andrew Welch, Team Unconventional Robotics

Well IF did not go so well after being thrown around a bit and having zero work done on it the robot sorta fell apart. Most of the bolts which were tapped into the ali just stripped out and wasn't really much holding it together. This sorta led to my batteries falling out and the wheels not touching the ground. Pretty much to be expected since I had done nothing on it for almost a year.
The main think which needs to be done is to rebuild the entire frame. I am going to try and build a layered HDPE design with spaces cut for the parts.
The jaw is OK will add decent wedge to front of it and leave it for now until I get the rest of the robot sorted. Crusher will eventually need to be better and have more power but the idea is to make the two wheel pods interchangeable so it can be swapped out easily. _________________ Steven Martin

Those two servos on the front work as a grabber. _________________ Steven Martin

I believe Stevo is going to be using this setup as well, and he's a much more advanced code monkey then myself, so he will probably have code ready tonight or something knowing him
Are you using the Baby Orangutan in an antweight? I would be interested if you would post any progress or relevant information. _________________ So even the rain that falls isn't actually going to fill our dams and our river systems
That was something I was going to do today. There is the easy way and the hard way of doing it. Easy way is to just read in servo signal, hard way is to program it to bind with one of the satellite receivers from the HK radios. So you gain another receiver. Something which I am a bit short on.
Need to easy myself back into the embedded programming but will see how I go tonight.

What is a satellite receiver? Is it smaller than the standard receiver?
Will you be able to program the Baby O to mix two RC signals and drive two motors? Could you program it to be triggered by an RC signal, run two motors for a set length of time, 0.1 seconds, and then stop? _________________ So even the rain that falls isn't actually going to fill our dams and our river systems
