Nice! Better not be overweight.
Good news is i found my micro crystal that got lost at the start of last event. Scary thing is it was in yamum... meaning it was in it during every fight including getting completly smashed around in the rumble, and it somehow still works!?
Prepare for frequent flier pointz! _________________ ( •_•)

how did it manage to get in ya mum in the first place
suprisingly its underweight by about 30g and support are pretty solid as is but atm there is nothing that i know of that hits from the side so itll be alright for now. _________________ Barton Robotics Youtube Channel:

well was bored a few days ago and decided to change beetle, couldnt be bother remaking the frame or weapon supports so i just used what every the vertical spinner had and turned it into a horizontal spinner, had a problem running a belt as the weapon kept hitting the motor and bending the shaft so i decided to try a geared weapon setup, dunno how itll last but seems to work so ill leave it as is.
and with the other little robots, helix is going to get a brushless upgrade to bring down some weight and get a solid shaft this time so the shaft dont bend, goodbye threaded rod forever.
and the little undercutter is working just need to get a new esc for it but dont know if ill run it anymore as im going to make a antweight lifter something different from all the spinning weaponed robots i have
this will be the last robot that im gonna make for a long time as i have no money left and i have my school certificate this year so gotta concentrate on school. _________________ Barton Robotics Youtube Channel:

well i was talking with a friend and he said that his dad had a 3d printer, so i just sent him a cad of the design and he made it up that night, the materials cost me 25 bucks and i think the frame is made from abs so not sure on the strength of it but its worth a try,
the frame weighs about 50g so leaves me 100g for internals and a weapon, but i did some calculations and im nearly right on the limit WITHOUT the weapon so may have to wreck the neat frame with some holes,
also gotta find some light strong material to make the weapon out of maybe some polycarb with steel tips or something,
though an interesting thing when his dad put my cad through some program to detect design issues it failed to find any i was pretty pleased with that
i should have it driving tomorrow night when i pick the frame up from my friend at school but the weapon wont be going until my brushless esc arrives in the mail _________________ Barton Robotics Youtube Channel:

got the frame, put all the electronics in everything fits well for a change, just need the esc and to make a proper weapon, looking at maybe some 2mm titanium which should do the job, question is where to find some for a reasonable price

yeh that sorta happened when the weapon smashed into the mounts, bit of glue and itll be fine _________________ Barton Robotics Youtube Channel:

That design looks familiar - perhaps I can find some Ti for the blade.
Did you find out what the frame would have cost if it was a full-charge job? If the cost was reasonable, you could get a mold printed and make the frame out of a stronger material like Urethane. You could also get it made so stronger material (like carbon fibre) could be laminated into the frame; there are some very interesting possibilities. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

the frame cost $25 but its not solid which is why its not very strong but is very light,
its hollow made in criss cross layers, found that out when i went to drill in it lol,
not sure if the people i got it made from use anything other then abs but i suppose i could ask but a rough idea between the prices of solid and hollow are 2 pairs of drive mounts for drill motors about 60mm x 60mm and 20mm thick cost $34 hollow and $68 solid so not as cheap as i would like.
in regards to the weapon i have been looking around for some thin Ti but to get it shipped from the US is a bit too much for my liking for now i was going to try a stainless weapon _________________ Barton Robotics Youtube Channel:

If your looking for a cheap weapon blade, have a look out at the local super market for a stainless steel ruler. They are 1mm thick, cheap and tough. _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/

I have heaps of Ti off-cuts that are too small to use in other bots - even cheaper than a ruler
$68 for drill motor mounts is a lot more than you could make them for in UMHW, but for tiny ant sized frames 3D printing seems pretty reasonable. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion
