I'd have to change underwear after a ride like that. Smile

of course not Razz

Nah the motor and controller's performance is just a little bit lower than I'd like, so I'll probably end up changing them at some point (as well as the batteries), but it actually does the job I built it for, and was pretty cheap Smile

It's been going for a while now, I just hadn't gotten around to making a video.

I'm taking it to the electric vehicle field day on the weekend.

I've been pondering over EV Options for my little daily runabout as well...

(As usual, Andrews has just gone and done it.. but I have an excuse, I'm already enagaged on a Project at the moment - my Charger.. the GeMinEV comes after that).

Anyway, the point was, this is a pretty nice site I've been perusing recently.. www.kiwiev.com for those interested in an actual daily driver EV and over 20 Youtube videos of the conversion process that are well done.

- low tech, low budget (Well, $12k NZ - $3K Motor, $3K ESC, $3K Batteries) , but works well and in daily use. changed his fuel bill from $220/Month of Petrol to $15/month of Electricity

haha that goes heaps faster then my mini bike ev does! might have to change the gearing after all Smile could probably get away with using a variator off a scooter (CVT) theyd handle the power fine.

www.evcapri.com - jake and i were over there last weekend giving him a hand. seeing it in person really puts into perspective how easy the conversion is. i well and truly think any of us roboteers could do it by ourselves from start to finish in 1 week.

might come out to that weekend as well

Very Happy

I've been planning on taking it to wakefield for ages, but every time there's been a track day where I have clearance to run it I end up having to be somewhere else.

@ Glen: how long before we get to see an electric X19? You know you want to....

The X19 layout could be pretty sweet for an EV; compartments front & rear for batteries, fairly light frame etc. Getting the motor coupled into the rear wheels is the only real challenge that I can see.

heres one i prepared earlier Laughing

from the looks of it they seem to get a 10mm plate of aluminium waterjet out to mate the gearbox and motor together then just lathe up a simple adaptor to join the guts of the clutch to the motor shaft.

Interesting; I thought the motor would have to be mounted over the gearbox. There is much more room than I remember.

hahah thats so awesome Laughing automated or not?

as for the room theres quite a bit once you rip all the useless crap out. the motors are actually pretty small. maybe 1 meter long for the 100hp ones? i cant recall but about the length of a standard 4 pot.
