Yeah, THG has changed a lot over the last 5-6 years... But I kinda like having the little bit extra geek type news now instead of it being pure IT related. _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/

Found this little article linked over on the RFL forums.
Was just considering the possibility of converting Australia's power source completely over to solar. _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/

Solar should be part of the solution. I wonder how we would get on if we had two weeks of cloudy weather. Australia does cover a large area, therefore there would be parts of the country that are in the sun and parts that are in the shade. _________________ So even the rain that falls isn't actually going to fill our dams and our river systems
Turning Co2 back into fuel? Another possible idea, dunno how effective it would be though.. _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/

A bloke on the TV was saying that we are at or about the peak of production of oil ATM. We could start to see the availability of oil diminish. He thought that we should start to expect a time when petrol could be as much as $10 per litre within 5 - 10 years.
Of course, in the '70s, they were saying that we would run out of oil in the '80s. They also thought that we were heading for an ice age due to pollution. People seam to be fascinated with the thought of the end of civilisation as we know it. _________________ So even the rain that falls isn't actually going to fill our dams and our river systems

Actually, many civilizations already knew and proved the earth was not flat 1000's of years ago, it is a common misconception that everyone thought that.

On the topic of emissions reduction, I found an interesting article over on AutoSpeed. Andrew and I were discussing alternate fuels, motors and conversions etc etc a few weeks ago and he was telling me about BMW or Mercedes we looking at using Hydrogen with Diesel to provide a more cleaner combustion and better fuel economy. The article I found on AutoSpeed has the same principles, but is using LPG instead, with some nice results across the board.
I think this would go really nice with those newer turbo diesel cars that are getting a good 800+km from a small 40L tank. Couple it with the possibility of using it with bio diesels and I reckon it could stretch out our oil usage that bit longer to make a difference.
The biggest thing about this plan of using LPG with Diesel is that the government will pay for half the cost _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/

Have you seen the pollution in China on the Olympic coverage? Two thoughts come to mind, we don't want that sort of pollution here and how much, on a global scale, can our emission reduction effect the entire Earth's pollution level. _________________ So even the rain that falls isn't actually going to fill our dams and our river systems
