Team Turbine - 360

As i said id do a build diary with a few pics of my selfwrighter as it progresses..

Did a few hours work today with ed wallace. got a design drawn up, machined a billet of alumec 89 into the ruff shape and pocketed it out for the inside of the gearbox. Taking longer then expected but hopefully it will be worth the effort Smile

heres a few pics

Wow, thought the brushless' were a little more enclosed than that!
Why the random astro? The 10A sabretooth won't run that.. Laughing

Bosch 35 motors, they are a common one over in the UK. Come with nylon gears though. Basically a scaled down ww motor. IIRC, they are still an active Bosch product, so you could probably order them over here, at some stupidly expensive Bosch price Razz

The astroflight will mount onto the gearbox through worm gears and a 900:1 ratio- then down to the arm 1:2 giving an end ratio of 450:1 Smile

The astroflight in the picture is one of the bigger ones- had it to hand at the time, it will actually be running of the shorter slightly less powerful astro 25.

The sabertooth poweres the drive motors fine- without the heatsink- it flew across the workshop in testing and i never found it again lol, so didnt bother replacing it and the fets dont even get warm Smile ive got a spair sabertooth though incase it does go pop one day. The motors are a standard bosch component- there great for moving a robot that doesnt need any pushing power. it drives nice and quickly- but carnt push to save its life lol.

video of it driving; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYb8KDGiLtA&feature=related

The astro is being controlled by a George francis H5 controll board- its got the ability to be used as a big servo controller, so hopefully if i mount a POT on the gears some how i can use it like a big servo Smile
