marayong bot olympics
just to formalise an idea chris had last event that i thought was an absolute ripper!
i reckon if we held something like this as the first event after the computer flooring is layed to give it a test would be good as we can all get a feel for the new floor, how much traction it offers to the old floor etc.
some of the events suggested i think where:
- tractor pull, where a sled gets pulled behind the bot and gets heavier as it goes on. whoever goes furthest wins.
- sumo
- soccer
and whatever wacky ideas people can come up with (robot basketball for el bravo maybe )
i think we will see about having a couple of those events next season
it would be good to see people developing bots for particular events
what it would create is the opportunity for someone to build a bot and not have to rebuild it after every event ....which does sound appealing
once the season is over i reckon a few get togethers over the off season [DEC + JAN] and we get it all organised ,
but here is a good spot to hash through a few ideas .
but keep it in mind there will still be a 2ND season to battle in so keep ideas realistic
remember that battling every sat would be fun but not practical so when coming up with ideas think how it would all fit into a calender year _________________ Photos - http://community.webshots.com/album/154092733uokpXC

Winner of tractor pull will be singularity .
I think maybe an obstacle course is a good idea with ramps or cones to go in and out of and/or objectives.
Maybe rethink of Gary's King of the hill idea.
Or robot soccer again. That was hilarious last time but ths time maybe have proper attacments to help.
I may build something new for these events for fun _________________ Andrew Welch, Team Unconventional Robotics
