ModKit - Graphical programming environment

Found this linked over from Sparkfun.

It's a very simplified drag and drop programming IDE for Arduino and compatible hardware. I personally like the look of it because it visualizes the code in a very simple way, which is something I generally struggle with when I write/modify any code over 100 lines or so (I end up doing pseudo code and doodlings on paper to keep track of everything).

I think this would be a brilliant way for schools to get kids into some form of micro programming without forcing them to learn Assembly 101. I see it as a possible way to inspire young students (or even older people) to think and produce creative work without the mind numbing, steep learning curves that generally comes with this area.

Looks similar to the original lego mindstorms programing interface, and I could figure that out when I was 12. Definatley a great way to lower the starting age for this sort of thing! Diehards will disagree, but eh... Modern age, easier = more accessable = better. Smile

I've got no problem with stuff being easy, just don't whine when you try to do something interesting and you get limited by the framework.
