you only live in baulkham hills yeah?
Come around sometime over the weekend if u can for 2-3 hours and well mod up some micro servo's and have a ant build session if you want, i speed modded a couple of micros but there not battletested yet so......
if those micro recievers r them orange things lemme know if u have a normal spectrum and if it works. I kept hearing they only work with DXI's or something. _________________ Andrew Welch, Team Unconventional Robotics

I might take you up on that next weekend Andrew. This weekend was ridiculously busy for me. I've still got gardening/house crap to do today, before I can put the finishing touches to an antweight I started last night. That's right toy hacked ant less than 24 hours
Admittedly it's only a thwackbot, but they've performed well in the small classes so far. Oh, and its only cost $20.
Then I can start on a "Proper" made antweight and beetle, as in scratch built. I'm loving the tiny robots for ease of construction.
So you free Saturday Andrew? Where you living now? Back at home? _________________ Farnsworth - "I hate these nerds. Just because I'm stupider than them they think they're smarter than me."

Yeah. Should be fine. Will give me time to get beetle damn near finished so I can focus on ants myself. Haha. I'm back at castle hill now.
Nick can I pop round next Sunday and grab that bar off u? _________________ Andrew Welch, Team Unconventional Robotics

Andrew: So I did manage to bind those knock off receivers to my spektrum. I have a Dx7 (DSM2) and I was using these.

Yeah apparently they don't like standard dx6 setups but work with dxi and such. Dang _________________ Andrew Welch, Team Unconventional Robotics

OMFG!!!! Screw Jaycar. Why have I never been to altronics before?
So much more stuff and the thing you want isn't slotted between the USB powered vibrating infrared remote controlled flying pencil sharpener.
Went there to get some surface mount resistors for the servo modding. Walked out with a lot more than that, and a catalogue. I would never even consider parting with good money for a Jaycar catalogue.
Anyways, so Andrew and I tried modding the HXT900 servos, and had a bit of trouble trying to squeeze some 1/8W resistors into it. Hence the need for some surface mount ones. Unfortunately the speed hacking looks like it might be a little more difficult than other micro servos. _________________ Farnsworth - "I hate these nerds. just epoxy the pot shaft from the top, once its centered, thats what i did. resistors didnt work for me, couldnt find the right values. also drill out the main gear to 1.5mm so its a bit looser on the pot shaft. million times easier overall than the resistors, but i havent combat tested it. Apparetnly the larger servos are commonly done this way
where's altronics?

I fit 1/4W ones in no problem. You just gotta be creative with your soldering. _________________ Steven Martin

Yeah, I was sure they could have fit with a bit more practice and 'creativity' as you say. But it seemed like the best solution was the surface mount.
Altronics is in Auburn Mr Jaemus (if that is indeed your real name), which you could pop into if working near there. Apparently only one store front per state seems to be their business model and even then its only melb, syd, perth. _________________ Farnsworth - "I hate these nerds.
