Few things. Qualifying rounds are just labeled that for semantics. So any bots which completely fail in first few rounds don't look as bad. Ditched the build challenge idea for now. Maybe in the future. Might make a thread discussing how we could run a local antweight one to see if it will work. Ah the number of rounds are not fixed. This is just basically to give us something to aim for. The more rounds the better.
Basically 3 full days of robot related events. With workshops on first day then battling for the next two.
Volunteers Needed.
I need 3 people to give a 15min talk + 5min question time on their robots.
Would be a bit of a powerpoint and maybe a 5 min video if you don't want to talks as much on how your robot was built, the key features which make it awesome and maybe a bit of a wrap up of how you have gone in the comp so far and how you thing you will go in the finals. Could also talk on a few of your bots if you dont think you have enough material for 15min.
I need 1 marshal for each of the categories. These will be responsible for running the bots for each category. These can be builders and hopefully this will share the load of scheduling the next fight a bit.
I need 6 designated judges. These will try to watch every fight and 3 will need to score if the fight doesn't end in KO. These can be builders or if you have someone who you know is coming to watch who knows a bit about the robots then they are also welcome. Main thing is they really need to be trying to watch every fight and hanging around all day. Pretty big ask but someone has to do it.
I need 2 fire wardens. Should know where fire extinguishers are and have one ready when the flamethrower bots are going in.
Hopefully will have confirmation of whether we are go by the end of this week. Looking promising but you never know.

You can at least put me on standby for the talk. I still have to finish off the bot, but if I make it up there, I will definitely do the talk. Would it be in the main stadium with the giant screen or a smaller venue. Having a live camera to show close-up detail on the giant screen would be awesome!

Deifnitely keen to go to ideas festival if it happens _________________ Andrew Welch, Team Unconventional Robotics
Well looks like we are off for ideas festival. Cash not a problem but apparently we don't fit well with the themes of sustainability, food futures and happiness.
Despite the fact that robots makes me happy, I don't think there is a lot we can do. Sorry guys.
