I just picked up the extra ply and the paint. I could only get the Charcoal hammertone colour in 1 litre tins so we shall see how far 2 litres gets us.

Glen: we will need some containers to wash the brushes in - three coke bottles with their tops cut off are perfect. Keep the tops as well, they are great disposable funnels.

Are there any other tools we might need?

No worries, ill save some.

Nightmare time though about the polycarb. Trying to trim 10mm off the ends of the sheets is such a disaster. the jigsaw blade keeps bending and giving a wonky cut through the polycarb because the sheet is so thin and im only takeing off a tiny strip, plus i dont know if your circ saw will cut it without jamming and taking massive chunks out of the sheet considering the flex.

Would it be possible to measure them up, then you can cut them on the tablesaw at your place and i'll come pick them up thursday or something? I'm going to loose it trying to cut them this way! haahaa.

Sure, we can mark out the polycarb and cut it later on the table saw - it will be much easier and neater that way, also less likely to scratch.

We used an aluminum blade on the circular saw up against a strip of RHS. It worked pretty well.

Jigsaw is a complete nightmare I wouldnt even bother.

Did you manage to completely finish your robot in amongst this?

Sounds like an awesome arena.

Yeah its pretty well done too, just need to buy some heatshrink and hopefully the new rx comes tommorow then its done Smile

Nick and I got a fair bit of the painting done today. Roof and bumpers have the first coat of white and i did the first test coat on the metal with the charcoal hammerfinish which looks EXCELLENT.

Mesh is done, and the fabrication is now done. Only thing to do is finish painting get the polycarb cut down, then i can do one final assembly/trouble shoot ready for the event Smile

The polycarb windows have all been trimmed by 10mm - the panel saw made it fast and accurate. Glen - let me know if you want to pick the panels up tomorrow.

Laughing I would have done the polycarb tomorrow, except the forecast is worse than today and the table saw sticks out the front of the garage when its assembled for bigger material. If it would help, I can leave the polycarb outside for pick-up during the day or 9pm is fine too.
