We already resigned ourselves to 1/4" Bisalloy; I will order the toughest grade they can get at the time. Even the lowest grades would have to be far harder than the mild steel on the current floor and I noticed that the steel screw heads inside the arena are hardly damaged - they are just 316 S Steel.
The linear bearings for the camera dolly arrived today:
They are just cheap plastic ones but run smooth and silently on the 3/8" rods. They will be mounted under an aluminium plate and the video head will mount on the top of the plate.

ok so we didnt really get any resolution at the beetle event.
Featherr event is on 24th and i dont know about everybody else but i simply dont know if ill have mine ready.
I need to finish mounting brushless to gearbox and test it to see if it works for warnings drives.
then if it works need to order other side and mount it all up
I can maybe get something going using some parts and warnings old frame if need be but yeah unsure how everybody else was looking.

Yep no chance ill have the feather I want to do, done in time for that
that said, if for some reason its going ahead on that date anyway, ill field Venator with so sort of dodgy vertical disc or saw blade or something sticking out the slot in the front where the lifter was (yeah never completely killed Venator, its sitting in the shed nearly complete ) _________________ <Patrician|Away> what does your robot do, sam

How many weeks should we delay the event - 2, 3, more? I could definitely use some extra time!

Yeah 6-8 weeks is probably as much time as you need to make something, any more time and people just wait it out lol. It's been a long while since I've seen an actual long term build
BUT! in saying that i for one am mentally and financially train wrecked from that one, If there is a big event is in June then maybe 14th of April will suit us well.
I'm thinking next year we shouldn't bother with a schedule lol. Seems like everyone just has to fit around whatever public events we have happen
I'm on leave leading up to 14th April but thats dangerously close to my wedding date.
That said, im busy every other weekend until then, thats the only date that's still free before the wedding (21st)
Will check with Mel if we are serious about that date
Otherwise im good for the 28th onwards _________________ <Patrician|Away> what does your robot do, sam

OK guys so the vivid robot event is off, what date shall we settle on for the feather event? I'm not promising anything fantastic but would like to compete again with one! BTW, who's got Jeff's number? We really should see what's up with him... lol

I'm happy to hold it on a date when everyone will have a robot Bummer to hear about the vivid fest. But at least we now have a ton of time for planning and getting arenas ready.
Cassie said you can have a robot event at our wedding, but its in bega so it might be a bit of a hike ;->
I'm thinking of focusing on the beetle if the feather event isn't going to be a big deal. _________________ Mechanical engineers build weapons, civil engineers build targets
