for the ebay one i got at the group buy the sensor for heat from memory was no where near the main heat producing components of the psu so the psu was very warm before the fan turned on.
like glen said i just opened the case got the wires from the fan and put them directly on the 12v line so the fan is always on now it stays nice and cool

I have noticed some of the really powerful chargers need more than the 12-14 volts to give their maximum charge.

Minimum 18volts according to the reviews.

Quite like this one myself but too many bills to pay at the moment.

I modded my new PS. Do you think I should add an extra fan too?

Don't need an extra fan, those things only power up the fan after a while of hard use, another is overkill by far. Smile Nice mod... Better than my gaffa XD

Which charger is the popular one now? The Turnigy Accucel 6 Balance Charger?

I don't know what's trending now but I got the Accucel 8 a long time ago and it has been flawless; chose it over the 6 for the 150W of power as opposed to the 50W of the Accucel 6.

Team RCC made an efford to make the charger issue a tad more logical. Up untill now we just chucked the PSU/chargers and wires in a cheap plastic rolling workbox/chest thingy. Accumulating assorted junk.

But, the el cheapo box was desintegrating after all the trowing around.
So we had a look in our supplies. And streamlined it all.

A solid DeWalt Toughsystem box that was begging my loving care for months now was purchased. Fitted with a 600 watt powersupply we can provide the power to an Imax B6 and a Quattro to charge every battery we have in our machines.

With this setup we can recharge the Bullfrog 8400mAh 2*5S pack and a feather/raptor pack at the same time.
Our transmitters are old Spectrum DX6's, with replaced converters and 1800mAh LiFepo4 packs, so, in theory we don't have to charge those during an event.

For serious recharging issue's, we have "workshop" tools. A Grant Cooper monster PSU (12/24V 100A one) and a Turnegy 4*100W will do the trick.

The accucel 8 is a great charger, I've got 2 and they work really well for charging and balancing LiPo batteries. They don't have a connector on them to balance 2 cell packs though.
I have had them overcharge a NiCad drill pack (hissing from the pack was not nice Sad ) when it was used on auto.
The main issue with them is charging lead acid batteries. They seem to be permanently set to 14.7V for a 12V pack, which is great for car batteries, but is far too high for sealed lead acids. The other SLA charger I've got only takes the battery up to 14V.
