Featherweight Bundles

I am thinking about a straight bundle which would be good for newbs / schools to start with.

No weapon just running wedge. Cost doesn't have to be cheap as possible but I think < $500 would be good.

Looking for parts list suggestions.

Yeah, I would be up to tailoring my how-to series to suit...

Here's my part list:

2 x Kmart 12v Cordless Drills = 2 x 20 = $40
2 x tz85a Botbitz ESC's = 2 x 65 = $130
1 x 2200mAh 4S HK Lipo = ~ $20
2 x Red Wheels = 2 x 5 = $10

Total = 200

Not including shipping... an alternative to the drills are your $40 gearmotors but then getting a wheel on them is a bit harder.

Don't forget the T6A radio

If we're going with a schools / engineering point of view, id suggest avoiding the drills and use the gearmotors. The price is more stable on those too and at times could be cheaper than whatever drills are readily available.

Wheels maybe some Colsons. Botbitz should come up with some sort of hub / shaft adapter for them, its the one thing I love about BaneBots is that they have off-shelf solutions for that

Real issue with doing gearmotors in Aus is that 90% of our market is US/UK and heavy stuff is hard to ship.

I think drills are really best solution and red wheels. Well for noobs anyway.

I'd ditch the T6A and get the T-SIX instead, much better TX and a lot more available RX's, the extra $$ is worth it.

I agree about using gear motors over drill motors, however we can reliable source the drill motors from ereplacementparts for ~$25ea shipped and they will work easily with the red wheels (great for noobs).

OK so.

I am thinking.

2 x Drills
2 x TZ85as
1 x Lipo from Hobbyking
1 x 20W charger
1 x T6A (could do t6 but prefer to keep cost down)
1 x T6A prog cable
2 x Red Wheels
2 x Printed Mounts
Presoldered Connectors
Templates for cutting plates for making a wedge
Assorted nuts and Bolts clamp
Aluminium Base plate.

As simple as you can possibly get just to have a driving platform that can be put together for testing.

Will work out price for that.

Go the T-SIX radio... If they are actually going go further then just playing with a kit and build their own robot using the components, the T-SIX instantly makes the extra $30 a better investment in the sport. Just the ability to have mixing and servo reversing done at your finger tips without a laptop, some uncomprehendable software and a cable will make even the biggest tight ass feel relieved Razz

$45 difference actually including 6CH RX.

Dual rates, adjustable end points, mixing, lots of toggle switches, alarms, programming. It's worth it.

Imho I wouldn't include a radio, rather link to AUS warehouse and if they really want it as an 'all in one' package... Markup and drop ship. Radios are so much about personal preference...

Well I think you should. But radio and battery would be drop shipped.

Is this in Aus Warehouse?

T-SIX does sound alot better. Could be a 'premium' option maybe

Do people think we should offer this pack on BotBitz? I was thinking it would be good before the nationals but might end up a little expensive to stock. Could be a to order item. How many of these parts are actually necessary? I was thinking drills + ESCs + wheels might be more useful. As all the other parts can come from Hobbyking.

I think as a to-order item is the way to go, with all the parts included, if you just keep a small number of the HK items on hand and then order more as required, rather than stocking multiple complete kits, you should be able to turn them over quickly if they only get ordered now and then, but you have the backup of stating that it's to order so it may take X days or whatever
