So I went through all of the 12 Green Ants. And we had 3 faults with the robots after 2 days of kids playing with them.
- A LED wire got cut. (No idea how but this somehow got sheared in half)
- A Servo horn stripped. (I re-used this servo horn from previous robots, bad idea)
- An ESC fried. (Pretty sure I needed more insulating tape around them, after I hastily rewired the robots in testing)
So all in all really good testing. Few very minor faults with the robots but nothing I wouldn't expect from ~10hrs of runtime.
As for the controller... Well they are completely screwed. Kids did a number on them going to get some arcade parts and rebuild them.
New arcade joysticks have arrived. I am wondering what the best way to interface them is, thinking arduino but will need to interface directly to the remotew which could be interesting. But we shall see how it goes. _________________ Steven Martin

Yep they were going the whole time….jenny at the gallery did a great job supervising…she even changed a few batteries that had gone puffy…..i think i got a couple of pix ...will go and have a look. It was the same deal as last year with the controllers sitting on angled plinths and the bots running around on the big table with high edges.
I think they will need a fresh new set of lips before they go out again.
Jenny mentioned about getting botbits to make a yellow kit bot for a maze/ obstacle course for another display so hopefully they will contact you or us….will pass it on if they do. _________________ Miles Blow - Julie Pitts

One of the ants had a wire break on the ESC. Managed to attach it again but did not have time to put the ant back together. Other then that the nest seamed to go quite well. There was some form of issue on the first day but they still ran on the second. Think we need a few more spare batteries after the little pile of dead ones for unknown reasons.
Could we put a lipo cutoff for battery safety _________________ Remember to trust me, I am an Engineer.
Not one of those ants is green. Lies _________________ <Patrician|Away> what does your robot do, sam
