Was thinking of learning to CAD so picked up Solidoworks, Rhino and Inventor off an old 'Friend'... Solidworks and Inventor looked abit hard and i couldnt get the hang of it while i found i was actually pretty ok with Rhino. Heres my first attempt - something lying around me witin reach- a Pepsi can:

I know its a bit stubby but its a mini pepsi Cool Still dont get the Texture mapping thing

I think i should be able to make basic components on Rhino and have a CAD of my bot in a few years lol Razz

BTW i had 0 help with 0 tutorials in Rhino, not even getting started

Just started to try and draw a robot in Sketchup. There is a triangular prism that needs a hexagonal hole to receive an M3 nut. I have made a hexagonal prism to try to make the void, but I am struggling to make it line up correctly. Any ideas?

Basically don't use sketch-up. For free hand style drawing stuff its fine, but for any actual design work the time spent screwing round with its flaws just makes it unusable.

123d was what I think angus/miles were recommending for the kids to use but will need to confirm.

Just started trying to use 123D. I am trying to draw the side of a robot and then turn it into a three dimensional object. I just can't get how to make it work.

How do you normally start with 123D when you draw a robot?
