I'm going to be in Ipswich with a 4X4 and car trailer on the 22nd March, if the arena is available for collection, I can do it then. If not, someone else is going to have to do the big haul before the 5th April.

Yeah, all 3 tonne of it. Filled the whole car trailer and the back of the Mavrick.
Had no brakes left by the time we got to the bottom of the range, but we got it there.

Ant Weight Arena Update

I have pulled the arena apart and reassembled it a few times in the last couple of weeks to see what I can do. I have replaced the broken connector and sanded down a few of the pegs on the connectors so they are a loser fit. I'm going to drill a hole through the frame and connectors to bolt it together once assembled. So now there no hammering required to pull it apart. I have also organised some diagonal braces in the corners so it will be much more stable. I have started modelling it all in Inventor so I can get a proper Bill of Materials.
I have also planned to weld some nuts under the floor so we can bolt on a bucket under the pit. I have been searching for a suitable bucket to use but I can find any I like, so I'll be making one out of scrap polycarb from the origional ant arena. I'll also make a shelf under the arena from scrap polycarb for the lighting battery to sit on. It looks unprofessional to have the battery sitting on top.
I have ordered all the bits I need from Bolts and Industrial last week but it appears thier quoted 24 hour lead time is a bit of a joke.
So far the repairs and upgrades mentioned above will cost $50. So I need to find out if we can afford to replace the polycarb on the walls since the old stuff is getting scratched up. We'd need 3 or 4 sheets of 900 x 600 x 3mm and I can pick it up from Masters https://www.masters.com.au/product/900038151/handisheet-1000-grey-900-x-600-x-3mm
I also had an idea for the pit mechanism. The reason the current one isn't closing properly is because the main bar has been bent. Someone might have dropped it during transport. I have hammer it straight and we'll be fine. But maybe we could replace it with one of these: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/12VDC-50mm-2-inch-stroke-750N-75KG-165LBS-linear-actuator-linear-motor-for-electric-bed/624913947.html?af=ppc&isdl=y&src=Google&albch=Google&albcp=Content-Product-DR&albkw=none_Others-Content-Product-Aliexpress_none_none&albag=cs_all_Content-Product-DR_product&albmt=broad&albst=content-display&albom=all_None_20121122_Aliexpress&creative=41727345368&placement=www.bigfooty.com&device=c&ptsid=1013999999895&crea=41727345368&plac=www.bigfooty.com&netw=d&gclid=COb3xu3bur8CFY-WvQodqkIAwQ . Not very expensive, can be powered from the lights and we could use either a switch or wire it into a timing circuit.
Oh, and we need some paint for the floor.

Anything else I have forgotten?

I like how the masters link says it's both Acrylic and Polycarb. Might want to test it... Shocked

I believe its the high impact acrylic (will say on the label in tiny print), alot of bunnings now stock only that and not proper polycarbonate.

Still a rather junky material, bend it and it'll break off.

How goes the antweight arena Daniel? Do you need any help/funding?

Featherweight arena, I think we need a build day on this ASAP. Scott, are we able to invade your front yard for a day to do this?

50:50 would help with what happened yesterday but too heavy to be practical.

After the magic LiPo smoke show and consequent greying out of the arena, miles and I ducked out and grabbed a Can-Fan RS250 / This CAN fan uses 0.5Amps, 100 Watts & has an air flow rate of 225 ltrs per second (that figure is before any air flow reduction) . Mated to a 250mm x 600mm http://www.phreshfilter.com/products/phresh-filters.aspx / 250mm spigot / 5m 250mm flexible duct. Sitting on the floor it cleaned the arena out in 30-45 min approx was to busy to time it...

However had it been affixed to the arena roof and pulling air, that time would come down to well under 10 minutes. The fan is bi-directional so it can sit in the filter and push or pull the air obviously the flow rate drops when the filter is attached.

A $7.50 piece of MDF from Bunnings with a 250mm hole cut in it for the spigot and a piece of polycarb for the roof to match is all that is needed, run it before the fights, throughout day matches to catch any smoke and associated nasty particles.

The Company quotes their product to last 2-3 years however that is in a 24/7 365 day constant run time scenario with high humidity and constant fine particular matter/particles in the air , they end up being a tad heavier used in that situation, due to the required run time of events this combo should last well over 5 years it just needs to be kept in a cool dry place ( preferably it's box in the plastic with the sock on ) if it's going to last 5+ years.

It won't remove all the potential toxic compounds however will do most and is better than nothing, atleast more than a vacuum wedged in the door lol

I'll let this guy explain more about their activated carbon filters...

I did suggest putting an inline duct fan in ages ago ;-> and then just running a duct outside in the event of a "smoker".
Would pose a trip hazard though, so if you can filter it out so much the better.
