You should be surprised. I think it's like the non waterproof version of those blue ones.

Look at the fine print though - the maximum reverse current is half the forward current so its likely these only do 50% reverse Sad

I might grab a pair. They are on eBay for $8.50 shipped. Might go ok in my < $100 robot.

low voltage and likely 'hobbyamps' but could very well help Steves budgetbot have a real ESC

I am really hoping that I can use those plus that 8266 module and a 3.3V reg to drive them from a Wifi connection.

Would allow a full PWM plus remote for ~ $20 this would be cheaper than making my own board. This would also potentially allow me to put some smarts in the controller to account for the shitty 50% reverse. Just need to make sure that they are wired correctly.

Charles confirms via FB they should work with 3.3V logic. So time to play.

Ill take 5!!

Id love to see homebrew waterjets one day. There has been at least 1 I've stumbled across that kind of cut for a few mm, then stop to build up pressure and go again. I wonder if you could feasibly construct your own intensifier pump to DIY a waterjet?

Then again a diy plasma cutter cnc is pretty easy and probably just fine for most of our robot work Razz

Also! Shopping for a new radio and checked out spektrums latest offerings. Seems they now have gyro's built into the reciever directly along with some kind of mixing in with the throttle channel to make a kind of traction/stability control.

Very interesting stuff. Nearly certainly sure you can do tank mixing with these radios so i wonder if the gyro stuff would still work with that enabled.. Will likely get one so can do some testing of that hopefully.

Hobbyking also have a variant with the same thing. Seems like a clone with a different case.

I was looking at the Spectrum site and didn't see anything - which model did you find? The HK radio looks pretty interesting, particularly for the price Smile

EDIT: You were talking about the Spektrum AVC, right? I read this very dissappointing description:

"When the AVC system is active, the SRS4210 functions as a standard 2-channel receiver , with the AVC system using the extra channels to let you independently adjust the amount of steering and throttle stabilization. When the AVC system is not in use, the SRS4210 will function as a standard 4-channel receiver with any DSMR or DSM2® transmitter, allowing you to use the two extra channels for things like lights or gear shifting."

That would mean there is no weapon channel when the gyro is active Crying or Very sad.

Try the Orange RX unit out first.

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__38543__OrangeRX_RX3S_3_Axis_Flight_Stabilizer_V2_V2_1_firmware_V_tail_Delta_AUX_.html

That will bind with your existing DSM2 radios.

AH yes, i did mean AVC, thought i edited the link in last night but apparently didn't!

Shame about the spektrum rx itself only able to use 2x channels, BUT that orangerx looks the goods. Better do some research. Cheers!

I've got one of the OrangeRX units at home if you want to borrow it for some testing.

New Raspberry Pi 2 B+ coming out very shortly.
http://raspberry.piaustralia.com.au/products/raspberry-pi-2-model-b

"The Raspberry Pi 2 Model B is the latest version of the Raspberry Pi, a tiny credit card size computer. Just add a keyboard, mouse, display, power supply, micro SD card with installed Linux Distribution and you'll have a fully fledged computer that can run applications from word processors and spreadsheets to games.

As the Raspberry Pi 2 supports HD video, you can even create a media centre with it. The Raspberry Pi 2 Model B is the first Raspberry Pi to be open-source from the get-go, expect it to be the defacto embedded linux board in all the forums.

What's the same:

- Same form factor as the model B+ (your enclosures and daughter boards should still fit).
- Same full size HDMI port
- Same 10/100 Ethernet port
- Same CSI camera port and DSI display ports
- Same micro USB power supply connection

What has changed:

- A new turbocharged Broadcom BCM2836 900MHz quad-core system-on-chip with performance at least 6x that of the B+.
- 1GB of RAM"
