terrible haha as you would know Razz
I suspect that jaycars specs are somewhat off the mark.
Spent some time googling somewhere to source a more power motor around the same size of a 775 but found zero results within Australia (for cheap anyway).
Bit annoying as i would have like to utilize the TZ85 that i have spare instead had to order a brushless setup which should be here monday so can test that then and post up a video etc

That looks fantastic! Hooray Sewer Snake style 30lber bots! I've built two with this style weapon and it's really good fun. Forgive the namedrop/image spam, but this is T3, the latest:

Can't wait to see your test videos. Looks like a really slick machine, I'm sure it'll be very effective. I had forks on the predecessor to the above and it was by far more effective, it just didn't enjoy spinners in that form.

Looks to me like all the motors don't have their magnet rings around them, is that for a reason? China puts them on to increase torque I believe. Might make a notable difference to both the drive and weapon.

Awesome stuff.

cheers.. always liked how wildly sewer snakes lifter flailed about yet also worked effectively and something different to a conventional lifter.
Also first attempt at a 4wd setup. no idea if itll work efficiently all trial and error.

Yeah i don't know i have just always taken the rings off to put the mounts on and never bothered to put them back on.. didn't think it would make a significant enough impact and just took up weight. could be worth a try if i find i have some spare weight.. already ordered a brushless setup so bit late for the lifter drive but ah well

Did exactly the same for a long time before a guy at an event in Germany made a very good point: China wouldn't bother with the manufacturing cost and effort of installing them on motors of this kind if they weren't worth it.

As you've got just two 550s for the drive any gain in torque, if you have the weight, is probably worth it. You could run the 30a Botbitz on the drive to save a few grams if it gets that fine?

Was gonna say its very like tormenta (#namedrop) that worked pretty dang well. Also Ellis have you got some pics of how the wheels are made? Meant to ogle them but didn't get the chance lol.

Those 775s are very hot wound from banebots, Would burn them up quick on that lifter i reckon. Aaron and Miles' brushless winch setup seemed to work good last time.

Curious point on the flux rings, they would increase torque (kt) and lower speed (kv) + raise efficiency on account of the increased magnetic flux, but the 775 ones are way heavy, 150g for both.

Would be interesting for someone to quantify the difference. There is quite a lot of magnetic leakage through the banebots 775 without the ring...

I machined them from billet HDPE. Made a little Imgur album: http://imgur.com/a/H0pE3

if i can dig the rings out of the bin ill do some tests, curious to see hmm..

running 5 cell, haven't had the motors themselves burn out but with the extra load of the chain drive could well happen, the pins on the carrier plates are what fail for me but i am also doing another little experiment with them, there is method to my madness having the robot done 6 weeks before the event Razz

i ended up going through 2 winch gearboxes when i was trying to get it all to work... Haven't really been reading much on the forum lately so i hadn't seen the winch thread or your latest stuff and the first gearbox i welded to the carrier plate like i noticed you did in winch tutorial thread and i found with the winch I'm using that it skipped heaps of reduction to the point i could turn the gearbox by hand >_>
2nd attempt i did exactly what you did with new Kojack and welded a shaft to the output gear and it just floats in the spline supported by a bearing on the outer side

Epic! Thining of doing the same thing as wheels are just getting harder to obtain for a good price.. is that bike tyre? How did you get it so flat? Or did you find a really wide one then cut the sidewall off.

+ Nice trepanning tool. Made a similar thing for some non robot related work and found that shape worked the best as well.

Do those even fit in the gearbox Dylon? There isn't much clearance front what i can recall and the middle carrier plate has to get thinned down for the andrew mod output stage to fit even without the bolt heads sticking up. Looks nice though Very Happy

Those HDPE wheels, I did that in the past for all our machines, but since a year, we went to the worn RC wheels from Leo's cars.

And yes, that's bike tyre. Just cut off the sidewalls, and flatten it on the wheel with enough screws.
