ok so i have started to think about some bot designs and i have some cool ideas i think but first i think i need to focus on the functionality of my bot i have watched the tutorials on how to use cordless drill motors and i think i can do that pretty easy, then i noticed in my back shed i have a couple of indoor fans that i dont use any more do you think i could use the motors from these or maby there wouldn't be enough torque what does everyone think.

You will need to upload a picture to some internet sharing thing. Then you can use the img tag. Its a bit shit but I think aaron has done a tutorial somewhere.
On imgur there is a button called embed codes. If you pick the BB code one you can actually put the pic embedded. See below
As for the motors I reckon they would need some sort of gearing. Car fan motors used to be a prime candidate for a weapon motor back in the day. Although indoor fans are they 240V or 12V?

240V meant 240 volt, or home main power, AC. Not useable in our machines.
Gearing. Most motors have a high rpm and low torque. You can exchange rpm and torque by gearing the setup.
For example. Most batteriedrills use a planetary gearbox of about 20-1 (some 16-1, others 36-1), meaning the motor RPM is divided by 20, and torque multiplied by 20.
And we're willing to give the information if asked in a pleasant or fun way.

For a starter on a low budget, a ramming box or wedge. Just to get the experience.
For me, it was easy to go for a flipper , as I had experience from the heavies and the tools to make full custom setups.
Now I'm trying spinners. And it seems to be a problem to get those reliable.

You will have to get the pneumatic ram from eBay or an engineering shop. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

I've recently started collecting pneumatic parts for a new hammer robot. Here's some on the parts that I've got:
Paintball CO2 tanks are a bit harder to find cheaply

Compliant with the rules. Controlled motion is a must. Ability to failsafe if transmitter signal is lost (typically done in the electronic speed controller), a power light, ability to power on robot without opening it up (switch or removable link is typically the way) and within the weight limit.
Last time I checked (it has been a while) we used the RFL rules as a basis for the nationals. No flame weapons or internal combustion engines. The main division is the 13.6kg featherweight. If you have a moving weapon there must be a way to lock it safely from activating in the pits. (The sportsman bit apples to the NSW Vivid event next week)
