MiniDUO brushed ESC

Just saw this ESC mentioned on the SPARC forums as a new option for insect class bots. A big plus is the onboard mixing, but it's 2.8A/channel which limits the motor size. Shipping over here from the USA will likely be painful as well.

Looks like the same driver chip as the Pololu B328 uses.
I ran these successfully in Scarlet for the duration of it's active antweight career.

That is a very convenient ESC for ants! The international shipping is $26 USD, which is a big percentage of the product but could be lowered with a group buy.

Why not just use the B328?

This one? From what I gather it would need to be programmed, as well as wired up. It's a bit more expensive with the programmer but might be worth it for those preferring transmitters that don't do mixing.

I guess the main advantage is that it doesn't need to be programmed. But B328 is pretty good for what it is. You also need to remember little bird is more expensive as its local and you can get it cheaper direct from US.

Same problem I suffer from with BotBitz. For the small parts shipping ends up being almost the same cost.

The MiniDUO also has a BEC and all the wires attached, so its a better option for people wanting plug & play.

With antweights, plug n play is usually overrated due to the fact plugs and wires take up valuable space and weight.

My process was to de-pin the RX, solder 10mm long ribbon wire between the RX pads and B328 AIN ports. This was then taped together and wired up to the Plush10 brushless controller for power and BEC.

The prices seem comparable when you convert the dollar (US$20 vs AU$28 ), and I've been impressed so far with the support from Little Bird Electronics (I've had one issue with an order, they apologised profusely and sent me out a replacement part straight away). Some parts are certainly cheaper ordering straight from the USA though, I have relatives over there and I'm tempted to get them to order some bits for me then include them in the next package they send over.
