Hi there everyone,
I'm a Melbourne based student that's looking to get into the robowars scene but I'd like to join a team more than building solo to start off with, does anyone know where I can look or where to find someone that's willing to take someone in and show them the ropes?
Thanks, Wasps

Only real team in Vic is Rotwang down in Geelong as a Father, Son (+girlfriend) group.
A few others in Vic floating around like myself but right now I am botless and without a good design worth building so I doubt I would be much of a useful team right now (Do plan to compete this year again though so will need a design soon)
I was talking to one of the very old guard who was thinking of building an Ant so that might be a place to start. Historically they have not been a thing this far south but are popular ATM in Adelaide and had quite a following in QLD for years.
The Angus series of Youtube videos can be a good place to start regarding a basic bot and the Facebook group may have some people interested in joining teams. https://www.youtube.com/user/RobowarsNSW

Hi wasps,
Welcome to robowars,
I'm just getting back into robots after a 6 year break and I am actively trying to encourage vic builders to look at ant weight bots (150g weight limit).
I don't have a team you can join as such, ( it's just me and Matt I team nmo) and I currently live a long way from Melbourne (Albury wodonga) however I might be able to help you get started.
Botbitz http://botbitz.com/product-category/antweight/ sells a lot of the pieces you need to build and ant (and is run by qld builder Steve) and has a free design for an ant weight bot. Called green ant.
Given you are new to robots it is unlikely you have access to a 3d printer so here is my offer, I can print a couple of the green ants for you and post them to you free of charge. You would still need to buy the running gear but at least you would have a start.
Most of the other bits are available from hobby king.
PM me if you want to go ahead
