Robowars CAD Repository

Instead of re-cadding everything we draw its about time I think we started to make a repository of files. Aaron has setup a repository for us to hold all these parts. I will try to keep a list here of all the parts.

Repo: http://cad.crystalnode.net/index.php

Batteries - http://cad.crystalnode.net/batteries.php

Electrical - http://cad.crystalnode.net/electrical.php
BaneBots 3-9A ESC
Sentilion 100A HV BESC

Mechnical - http://cad.crystalnode.net/Mechnical.php

Misc - http://cad.crystalnode.net/Misc.php

Motors - http://cad.crystalnode.net/Motors.php

Wheels - http://cad.crystalnode.net/Wheels.php

I'll whip up a PHP page to handle this so people can just upload the files to my unlimited storage and we can keep it all in one place Smile

I wonder if its possible to somehow programatically convert the source files into other versions.
IE somebody uploads a SW file and we somehow spit out a rhino file without loosing the information like an iges or worse still STL file does.

Short answer no.

The formats are designed to not be backwards compatible and to stop this. If they did there would be no real reason for companies to stick to a certain range of products. It could be reverse engineered but then this would shave to be repeated every time a new version comes out. Its easier to save as an IGES or redraw.

Yeah, what Steve said. Plus I've been setting up user parameters in my common parts to make the top-down modelling easier. I've never used Rhino, but I doubt it will import the parameters with the model.

Well the repository is ready.

http://cad.crystalnode.net/

It's a little ugly at the moment, but it's functional and easy to use. I'll make it look pretty in the future, once I sort out a bug or two (error handling).
Upload away people!
