Just noticed the nu line of Milwaukee priducts.
In particular the nu V28 line which uses LIthoim-ion batterys

Can anyon explain the difference between Li-Pol and Li-ion.

THese nu drills are 28 volts, last twice as long as previous and the motors torque is 600 inch/pounds whereas the dewalst 24volt hammer drill stalls at 192.

THey also have a battery status indicator which sounds useful.

Pitty they are so damm expensive

hmmm, thats not too bad.

kinda cool how only 2 cells and its 11.whatever volts

may be something to look into when my nicad packs lose their life span down the track and maybe upgrade to a triton to charge them.

but the prices r cheaper than nicads although the amperage rating isnt as high as i would of liked but still something maybe worth considering down the track.

One thing ive seen is that if not done right these packs r VERY dangerous as i have heard horror stories of a pack bursting into flames while inside a rc helicopter and nearly toasting this guys garage and destroying a good amount of stuff and leaving a veyr melted helicopter.

The 2 cell / 11.1 volt pack must be a typo; each cell puts out a bit under 4 volts and that can't be changed. Also notice that the 3 cell pack is 11.1 V as well (which is correct for a 3 cell pack). Still good value and it makes a high performance antweight more economical.

If we ever started seeing lipoly powered ants with brushless motors and decent KE weapons, I would be interested...

yeah i was thinking that for a beetleweight battery and stuff although unless servo boards can be used as speed controlls i wont be able to build anything in wieght limit anytime soon.

I found 2000mAh and 4000mAh packs today as well. The 2000 and 4000 packs are 'military grade'..... whatever that means.

I was looking on the Master Instrumetns site a few weeks ago and I've seen 100amp cells and if I'm correct, there was even a 1000amp cell available. Prices unknown.

*EDIT: Just checked the site, no 1000amp cells, but I found the 100amp ones and they are only 2.75kg per cell! http://www.masterinstruments.com.au/browse/Model/SLPB80460330.html
The 40amp cells (http://www.masterinstruments.com.au/browse/Model/SLPB100216216.html)also look very nice for a featherweight. I would hate to see the price tag though *

Military grade means that it has been made more rugged. My brother used a military grade laptop in the army which was just an ordanary laptop in a new case so it wouldn't get broken if it was knocked off the bench. Actually in terms of the hardware inside a military grade laptop its about 2 years behind a laptop you'll buy down in your nearest computer shop. The army buys a laptop, spend 2 years figuring out how to stop grunts from breaking it, then put it into service only to find out its no longer good enough to handle the new software.
My guess is these Li-Pol batteries are thicker cased batteries to go into these Military Grade laptops. Grunt proof, but we'll still break them.

the milspec laptops i have seen are pretty cool
membraine keyboards, full suite of peripheral ports, sunlight readablle screen, magnesium case (so when you take that tracer round theres no doubt about it) rubber plugs in all the ports to keep the crud out, good battery life all in all a yummy package.
now if only i had the $800 second hand
