looks like the dx5's work well nuf e.g dont fail and work as a 2.4 ghz radio
reckon should get one? _________________ A journey of a million miles begins with a single step followed by a hell of a lot of other steps so get walking
The ar600 should be fine for even weapon bots. It failsafes to the position on the throttle when it was bound (BR6000 does this on all channels) while the rest of the channels send no signal. $70US is around $110 right now so it's still fairly cheap.

Stupid question.
Is the DX6 we all know and love mode 1 or mode 2 (ie about rudder and elevation ect.)? so i know which DX5e to get for robowars.

Just for confusion, you can buy either! I got a mode1 because i'm a lefty, but mode 2 is more common. If you've buying a dx5e from hobbycity, they sell both types and state what type is which.
EDIT: word of advice, do not do a "special order" through RMP... took months and arrived well after last robowars. _________________ ( •_•)

thanks angus mode 2 is what i want then,. Sorry when i got mine i am quite sure they only had one DX6 listed on RMP but that was over 2 years ago now.
With the shit dollar the cheapest place for a DX5e is from a few places in Australia only place that might be cheaper i can think of is if someone with one of the discount memberships from hobbycity got it from there.

Yes you could, mix elevator and rudder and you've got yourself a two wheel drive. Which leaves you free to use the throttle for a weapon

jut picked up a new dx6 mode 1 which i wanted with 4 servos and reciever off fleebay for $215au posted.
Can sell the ar6000 reciever and get a bot one unless its legal to use the ar6000 as long as the one failsafe channel is used for the weapon? _________________ Tim Team Reaper.

Think you will find that would not be legal at a Robowars event. _________________ Satisfaction is proportional to effort and results.

The test is to have your weapon on, turn on the spot, then turn the radio off. If the robot stops entirely, it's a pass... if not... _________________ ( •_•)

It all depends on the controller that the receiver is plugged into. As long at the receiver doesn't hold last sent position, then the controller should see an out of range signal and failsafe on the controller, not the receiver. So maybe... _________________ They say that he crossed the fine line, from insanity to genius.

Failsafing
About the DX5e, I have one binded to a BR600 and using a Scorpion XXl. Whenever I turn off the transmitter, the motors start slowly moving backwards. Does anyone know why this happens or how to fix it? Thanks in advance for any advice. _________________ It seemed like a good idea on paper...

Try rebuinding the reciver making sure the sticks are centre. Sounds like it was bound to failsafe slightly off centre so when no signel from TX it sends a slight signal to the scorpion.
