Weve done it (see page 1 of this thread) and it lasted 2 tournements and then the servo print went bang. I have no idea it is because of the servo board or what not, but it stopped and it needed te be replaced by another servo board to get it to work again. And then it was fine again for a couple of matches and then it went bang again. So now ive exchanged it for a normal rc switch.

The PWM going into the SSR wont do anything any favours
you might be able to "smooth it out somewhat" by putting a diode after the motor output and a seriously phat capacitor after that (put a scope on it to make sure you keep enough voltage). That should also help prevent blowing the SSR when the polarity of the servos motor drive reverses.

Interesting things I learnt about the SSR on the weekend...

- They will handle 39.6v (12 cell A123)
- They handle PWM within the 12 - 25hz range
