Its been done man, there was a robot called tread, was basically two kiddy car setups in a tyre, the thing would never die and could not be hurt by any spinner but it was also very boring unless it was facing a spinner so.........

Very Happy well to me it looks great and a good way to get battling and thats what matters .......more than someone has done lately.
use servo switching and cordless drill batteries ,thats if the drives are drill motors ,if they are 12v motors run at 14.4 max ,some might not agree but if you have 5 or 6 battles in a day you dont want to be cooking motors.

looks good, might be easier for you to make if you just put one axe out of it instead of two, thatll still work alright.

how do you plan on attaching the wheels Smile, good work, let us know if you need any help with it, im only at shalvey (think you live around mt druitt???)

Currently the motors just are connected by a chain to the wheel gear

(The motors are from a electric motorcycle that *HAD* about a speed of 20kms an hour and carried a rated weight of 70kgs easly so they should do the robot fine. They are 24 V motors )

What i am currnetly thinking is that the robot is attached to a piece of mdf and the ali plating goes over that.

ah okay so you have the whole drive setup, good stuff Very Happy think you will need a bit more drive power for that though the 250w motors are pretty current hungry iirc. that will be insanely fast at 24v to i would think Razz

well the bikes previously were 24 volt so ill leave them at that and they lasted for about 30 mins and took an hour to charge so they shouldnt be to bad to use but they had those block batteries

lol those are 7ah each which derates to about 3.5-3ah of nicad batteries so theres alot of difference from the 1.2ah drill ones, at least leave room to chuck a few more in.

Okay now to get some more drills and make some more room and lessen the weight by widening the bit from the inside rim of the tire.

We just found 2 boxes of rechargable nicad batteries so going to test them and if they work use them instead of drillpacks.
Also the 250 watt motors were scrapped for 200 watt ones because I could not find partner motor to the first one.

Great to see you guys get passed the "dream about it" stage!
Hope it doesn`t cut into too much computer game time! Laughing

Excellent choice of body armour for a first bot! You will survive a lot longer than many of the other guys fisrt efforts.

Andrew said; "been done before" So? Done and done again! My new bot, ready for the next event is,,,, a tyre! + sledge hammer!

Doesn`t have to be boring, we have seen tyre with circular saw and even tyre with flame thrower!
