Plan-C is coming together.
Ordered some valves from the USA a few weeks ago and they have arrived.
The revised design seems to be working pretty well ;->
Power is up to somwhere in the same magnitude as we first planned, the piston ring setup we used in the first version didn't work so well and was costing us heaps of power. Like with a pendulum test i measured about 25 joules :-<, design was for about 800.

Haven't done a pendulum test on the wep now, (well not an official one, the roof probably wouldn't like it.)

I think that camera doesn't have an IR filter, thats why it looks washed out.

by this point we had added a bunch of weight to the old frame and tied it to the table, thats why it doesn't hit the roof.

thats full. Though we are looking (ok well i am) at putting a heater in the buffer section to improve the KE and gas used per shot. (we could double the available gas per shot without a problem too ;-> w00t in theory thats 2x the KE)

EDIT: Isn't there something in the rules about heaters on CO2 tanks? Guess you safe if you have a 1000psi pressure release though.

well the FRA says

8.14.
Pneumatic systems using heaters or pressure boosters are not recommended. (If your design uses these please contact the event organiser for prior approval.)

atm the pressure seems to sit around 600PSI or so, so if we can get that up to 1000 with a heater in the buffer then so much the better.

heating the buffer wont affect the pressure as it is the temp of the liquid CO2 that affects the pressure. Have you allowed the bottle to come up to room temp before testing?

The buffer has gaseous CO2 in it, we gas it off into the buffer so a heater there should help matters. Need an electronic type pressure sensor though good for ~1000 PSI or so any ideas?

N2 needs *way* more tankage, last time i ran the numbers we used about 20 grams of Co2 per shot.
