Dangers? How about the dangers of working with electricity?
Don't discorage people from learning new things.

We've been through this before Smile

12v/24v battery power has very little potential for instant death/injury.
High pressure pneumatics *are* much more dangerous.

However, that doesnt mean people shouldnt go there, just that they need to be more educated, mature and safety concious than with a low voltage electric bot.

If the builder is known to be experienced or otherwise have reason to be trusted with the robot equivalent of a gun, then fine, but for young inexperienced builders, a machine that has less potential for accidental mayhem is probably a better starting point.

I dont know who "Knights Templar" is, and what their relative skill levels are, do any of the NSW guys know ?

We have had a few close calls with Plan-C already.
The motto of "if you can't see inside it then its pressurised" has become somewhat more re-enforced.
EG we fired the weapon and something broke, not the end of the world, but when we went to dis-assemble it after we forgot that the fully extended piston still held gas pressure and as such when we removed the last bolt the end of the piston flew off.

We thought we had vented the system but one of the valves had failed.

if there is a gas bottle say. If you can't see the bottom of the bottle then you assume it has 1000 PSI in it.
