Smish - team Aurora - NSW

the quick and short story are that angus and i have a heavyweight size crusher in the works. nothing really technological or any such, just big Razz

drives - two wheelchair motors im going out shopping to the flea markets in a few weeks time to grab some, and i have the two wheels already (dodgy as they are) and the #40 chain to power the gearing increase so all i need is the sprockets.

weapon - massive crusher, two of the large actuators 800kg each at 24v. will be running at 36v or 24v depends on the battery config. ratio power wise should be at least 1:1 so 1600kg tip power seems attainable.

frame - 50x50 box tube 3mm wall. i have a fair bit of it i scabbed from the dumpster, both box section and round tube and today i obtained a hare and forbes 12 ton hydraulic pipe bender for $150 with all the bits + the tig welder means the frame isnt a problem

Electrics - im going to order the two OSMCs when im done with battleshed and put them together. standard spektrum radio borrowed from one of my robots and either 3x of my 24v 2.4ah packs in parrallell or three 12ah Yuasa sla's in series.

will be a nice exercise building wise anyways. ill snap some pics of the parts and tools when i get the camera. Smile

1600 kg for a crusher in a larger weightclass than a feather????

Marauder and devastator have more power in their rams....

The UK heavy Tiberius IV has the feeble 9 tons of force, and that is with a positively small hydraulic ram. Even after the leverage, more than 4 ton on the point is left.

indeed those are some good robots Smile i do like tiberius alot, especially with its new little rear armour.

but im no pnuematic nor hydraulic expert and im not one to try a full blown setup on such a scale, as it stands 1600kg is plenty for me, the little 120kg drill version goes in through 3mm polycarb so 1600 will be a nice clamp irregardless.

the motors in the actuator are just scooter size 100w deals atm so no doubt larger motor conversions are not out of the question Smile

Bulldoze has 3mm ABS skin so I think your crusher will be more than adequate.
Having a few big bots kicking around to demo will be good. Never know what might happen.

Giving it good all terrain capability would be my suggestion; we are still hoping to do something in the Quarry.

The idea is cheap, easy, big.
It might not have the crushing power of proper heavyweights, but compared to the competition it would face (probably none) it's all good! Laughing
But glen arg as I keep saying, I can't help much till after HSC...

We'll rig up 8 big solinoids to drive Vertex and we'll finally have a target to test the flywheel on Twisted Evil

well i lost the pump at a healthy $365 ;.; DAMN YOU EBAY.

but on the upside i might have scored a lucritive deal to obtain a hydraulic lift pump and motor assembly for a steal. 27 Liters per hour flow rate for a two stage gear pump is fine by me.

as for the valves im thinking ill just buy a manual valve set as they go less than $100 and hack it for radio operation. means i can test things manually too WCS.

all mine! $124 isnt too bad. i think this size is a good comprimise for weight reasons and power output.

also searching for my 4/2 solenoid valve with the pressure relief.. need to keep shopping there.

and finally need to find the bladder accumulator at a nice price. damn accumulators not being allowed Crying or Very sad

I got a bladder available, for the oil storage.

As well a 4/2 valve. But not body ported yet. What ports would you like?

Also, my local supplier is rather "cheap" with his range of Italian hydraulics.

For pressure relief. A mechanical PRV will open if the pressure rises over the allowed pressure. This burns amps.

A pressure switch will shut down your pump on the set pressure, immediatly setting pressure to 0.

Oh well, hydraulics are just a sideline for me. Not yet to be compared to my pneumatics. (But Tiberius runs on a 70mm*148mm ram with a mag S28-400 motor driven Vivoil Size 0 pump, capable of 4000 psi, supplied by me)

Only 1 problem. P&P
