Heh yeah it's so old that it was before I gave 450 a go. It's got jolt damage on it... vintage! Smile

Steve, do you remember what you used for the flame thrower on this one?

Wow been a long time since I update this. No event report or anything.

So nats wrap up. WedgeBot went pretty poorly got hammered and didn't drive particularly well.

Doolsaw was up against catastrophe first and really never got a proper belt solution so didn't really do well either.

One of these days I will stop running or bringing the arena to events and will actually build something serious.

Thinking about how to rebuild Doolsaw if I was to take it to USATL.

I have more than a few problems.

1 - I need to rebuild the arm mechanism.

2 - I need to redo the saws if they are allow or I need to make another weapon.

3 - The drives are shitty. It needs bigger wheels too so it can drive invertible if the arm is down.

There is quite a few things I can do. Firstly there is 4S 5Ah batteries inside the damn thing, which is stupid. Could probably go down to 2ah, which would be plenty. I could also get a complete new arm cut for a different weapon.

For lifter arm I am thinking big spur and worm gear. Has anybody ever turned a worm gear? Or where should I be looking?

A worm gear sounds reasonable for the lifter. Turning one would be a PITA, buying one would be more cost effective - how about TEA: http://www.tea.net.au/ProductCategoryModules/Specific_Product.aspx?prodid=87&cid=80 Fairly local to you...

Wheels: what size do you need, perhaps I have something in the parts bin.

Drives: perhaps you need to use some of your Bot Bitz 40mm gearboxes?

36mm BotBitz gear motors external without support is probably a bit much to ask. They are really quite tiny gearboxes when you see them in the flesh. Worked fine internally but exposed like that I think my shafts would get bent quickly as they are only 8mm.

I think we are all out of the bigger RS775 ones they were pretty beefy but motors weren't up to it.

When will you have the hardened drills done nick?

I think I have 2-3/4 inch wheels atm but need something about 4 ish so that I have sufficient ground clearance on both sides.

They are on the back-burner until after the UK event, but for this case I am sure I could knock out a couple of sets.

I have some 4" by 42mm thick Colson wheels with 1/2" hubs already installed, or there are some 6" Colsons that could be machined down to about 30mm thick.

Hi Steve,

I just found 3 Banebots 42mm motors that might be useful. One is un-opened, one has a shortened shaft but has never been used and the third is in parts but looks complete. They are 16:1 ratio and there are at least two 550 motors. The internals are very similar to the newer 38mm Banebots motor and I believe there is a pinion with a 5mm bore for 775 motors available. Interested?

How much do you want for them? Sound like a good drop in replacement.

Unfortunately I am unsure if they are even going to run sportsman so can't promise that. I move very soon so hang onto them for me and I will let you know where to send them as soon as I am not living in a hotel. Will swap for a pair of Tz85as and programming box as long as you attempt to blow them up.
