RoboGames 2.4g Sponsorship Possibility…

Going to go to RoboGames 08? As most of you know RoboGames now implementing a rule which is REQUIRING you to run the new spread spectrum frequency system in order to reduce safety concerns associated with our sport.
In an attempt to alleviate some of the financial burden associated with the cost of a new radio system I have been working towards providing some deserving people with sponsorships for various 2.4g systems. During a recent conversation with the owners of Xtreme Power Systems (http://xtremepowersystems.net/) I asked if they would be willing to help some builders who will be attending RoboGames 08; with a positive response they have asked me to compile a list of people who I would recommend for sponsorship.

There are two kinds of people that I am looking for here… One, the Vet and two, the Rookie; they want people at both ends of the playing field. You must be attending RoboGames 08. If you are not 150% committed to going to this event you will not be considered. You need to send me a Short E-mail saying why you need/would like this sponsorship. You need to include pictures of your robots in the e-mail of the robots that the system will control and you need to go to the XPS web site and include what it is that you would need. Keep the mails short and two the point; and get them to me ASAP. Mail me to Chad-at-teamwazio-dot-com.

Also bear in mind that even though the majority radios that have only 1 programmable fail safe they also have channel 1 and 2 (the drive) failsafe natural. So that means that if you have 2 channels for drive and 1 for weapon that you still will be fine.

Also, I am working with other companies as well on this… So with any luck this wont be the only batch of sponsorships.

So ya…. GET ME THEM DAMN E-MAILS!

I was considering this, but just realised they only provide 13 featherweight places and they're all filled. wtf? Confused Our local events are bigger than that...

It's actually 16 places for feather weights but Dave only put up 12 to begin with so they won't all be taken from the local teams. The other 3 or 4 were left blank for slow international team who don't use the builders database. If you want to enter you have to email him.

Dave wants the arenas for the bigger bots as they are more audience friendly - can't say I blame him for that.

Bugger, bugger, bugger! I was waiting for the announcement and didn't hear a thing Evil or Very Mad. Perhaps some serious begging and an early registration for RG 2009?

All the more reason for us to get started with lightweights, lots of spots available there.

With three feathers to run, I am swamped already! The registration announcement was really quiet this year and there are only three international feathers registered! Perhaps it's just as well; the field looks much scarier than last year! With all those spinners, the matches will be short & brutal and the double elimination tree will have many empty spots towards the end.

E-mail Dave... Just got off the phone with him. He will work more with the out of the country people... If enough sign up he may bump the total count up even more. So; send Dave an E-mail if you want to come!!!

@ Nick
All the more spinners... all the more reason to build a bisalloy ownage robot... Smile I think Jasons 4bar lifter concept has found its calling... Laughing
But yes, you obviously don't want to enter another spinner! Shocked

I emailed Dave over the weekend - no reply yet...

If I do enter, it will only be with an existing (or mostly existing Laughing) bot - I don't want to get caught like last time! A custom version of Chuck might be best; I don't think trying to out-do Relic and TO at their own game holds much promise.

Wazi0, do you think these things will be allowed?

I'm liking them already, with the few specific features that makes it better than the spektrum in my eyes. It's mode 1 for once. Laughing
I wonder what the failsafe is like... but I have faith in futuba. Smile
