Do you have any pictures of your valve design?

The welds on that hardox arm are bloody brilliant, how much did the welding set you back?

Yes its hardox, water cut, folded, and welded. The only thing I didn't do myself, its the design that counts anyway hehhe.

The welding and fold were just done by the local sheet metal guys, it was a year ago. Not much money from memory Aaron.

Thats too cool!

Never thought a steel welded bot could look as fancy as the billet ali blocks.

Thats nuts man its gonna be hard to break that.

How did you refine the design for the four bar mechanism?

You have built a long arm in your mechanism. Could you get the same result with a smaller arm? Would you need to increase your valve flow to compensate?

It's all a balancing act, you change one thing here you affect that etc. Its long so I could keep it low. mmm @ a quick glance, if you decreased length that front pivot would come in decreasing the leverage ratio which is only 2:1. Then to fix that you could move the front arm pivot point backwards, but then you decrease the arms strength. Which would require a stronger/heaver arm.

I received a few PMs, and I would like to clear a few things up. Designing and building a project like this for the first time was very difficult for me, as I seem to have to make something that hasn't been done before to keep it interesting. And I believe with the performance of this weapon I have achieved that.
I've had a break for about a year doing other stuff and now I'm finding it easier to come up with new and improved designs again. I've come up with two new pneumatic concepts(which can't be used together on the same system, bugger hehe) and I'm happily designing a bot.
What you guys can do is help with positive comments thou, so if you see a robot weapon launching a bot 5 meters into the air @ 3/4 power please tell me what you think about it.

As you all know designing and building new ideas for the first time is 5 times harder than stuff you have done before or has been done before. In saying that this pneumatic stuff is getting easier and easier. Smile

You've gotta put that 4-bar launcher in a robot! It's taken flippers to a new level from the results, I've yet to see any other 30lb flipper throw another robot like that, ever. Not everyone has the skills or know how to product something this brilliant, and we rely heavily on those who can to do it!

This would be like if Davinci had painted the Mona Lisa, then just left it in his cupboard...

Do you have designs of your finished bot?

Yep, its just a square box with a wedge @ the front. Like the profile of the arm.

Here are some CADs as requested. The shuttle is spring loaded, I don't know how to draw springs.
