We've all been there. Grab an irrigation solenoid valve and pull it apart. The principle is the same. _________________ So even the rain that falls isn't actually going to fill our dams and our river systems

quote:
all of these super flow valves are spin offs from spud guns.
Yes and No....a valve is a valve and the forms of actuation are limited.
But your right that the principles are the same as some of these.
The trick is to get the Bl00dy things to work for your application!

Kind words thanks Glen.
I think you will find gentleman that maybe for our application (robot combat) pneumatic design hadn't been optimized yet in terms of flow.
Now with efforts of others I have been able observe there designs and attempts, ask questions and come up with something that meets the max potential of a given ram.
The keys for me were Mario's practical knowledge and proven ram components. The quick exhaust valve concept. And Woody's math for the max flow needed for a ram, BUT NO MORE than needed.
May I just be so bold and to say. If you can design a bot to handle the force, you can have the max potential of the ram with a valve that weighs no more than a burkett. _________________ Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.

With Trent's permission I've added a quick update to my 2nd pneumatics page.
I'll add more detail as / when Trent makes it available.

What is the length of your ram? _________________ So even the rain that falls isn't actually going to fill our dams and our river systems

Total? About 200mm, quite long. New designs have reduced this. _________________ Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.
