N00b bashing does become a bit of a crowd sport sometimes Wink

However, they usually only get flamed to a crisp when they come in and say "watch out, I have a secret design that will beat you all and I can build a better speed controller for <$50, oh and by the way, what motors should I use and how should I build my robot"

Most of the builders are quite helpful if you ask questions the right way..

I also find it annoying when people presume new guys don't know anything. Look at Trents first robot. I will wait and see what people are capable of and answer direct questions before giving copious amounts of advice.

As for pneumatics. If you don't know what you are doing then I I suggest use only off-the-shelf components and keep clear of home-made of modified (eg soda stream) systems.

Trent asked some good questions, used existing threads and did research, plus Elenor was his second bot Wink

Yeh like everyone said start simple and build up. If you want to try and do everything yourself like speed controller and remote it may look simpler at the start but it doesn't work out like that.

We were all once annoying noobs asking all the same questions. Well I was anyway. But learn from our mistakes and if u don't like a challenge don't bother with the speed controller. It is pretty much accepted that a speed controller with all the features of the IBC can't be produced for a cheaper price.

Also buy a spectrum it may be an extra $100 but it is definately worthwhile. A normal fm radio can work but a spectrum you can plug in and it will just work. No making an antenna, tuning it and then getting interference half way through a battle. Im on my fourth radio and while it was $100 - $150 more than a cheap remote it is the best thing I have bought so far.

As for events in qld. Well atm mentioning them is about as far as we have gotten. Was builders meet at kerrisons a month or so ago but other than that not much.

Anyway hope what I have said was slightly useful. Add me to msn if you want to chat.

im not going to tell you to get onto limewire and look for Rhinoceros 3.0 + crack because that would be advertising the use of Warez and the like and seeing as i do-not condone such actions im refusing to tell you the best method to search for it as you can see above...

though if you did happen to find it by going onto lime wire or some other file sharing program and looking for Rhinoceros 3.0 + crack than you would probably be using the program that most of us do our cad work through... not that i would know how to find said program Wink
