ok here is the P.A.D (red arrows are actions)
The basic rundown
1. tyre for armour (very small 50cc bike tyre)
2. a pick for a weapon cheap and easy (MAY go both ways depends on how good we are)
3.little ruber stopers to stop it going into the ground (i hear you guys like the arena in one peice)
4. it wont be invertable as (i hope) the pick will be able to unflip BrainDead
5. it willl be as low as possible (so not to get flipped by devestator types)
6. the paintjob (and design) WILL change during production (i hear its good to have some leeway for mistakes)
7.the top part will be made of perspex ( or the tin off a washing machine i have at dads.) and will probably have the same down the bottom (better to be safe then sorry)
any comments/pointers/replys or genral help is aprecated (sp?)

nice design but i cant help think ive seen that somewhere else but have a go anyway
one thing else it might look right in the drawing BUT make sure your parts fit all of them first before you start building I thought about using a tire and well the motors fitted but nothing else did . _________________ A journey of a million miles begins with a single step followed by a hell of a lot of other steps so get walking

Any ideas for what type of motor you're using for the weapon? _________________ They say that he crossed the fine line, from insanity to genius.

You can save a heap of weight and create more internal space by cutting off most of the sidewalls of the tyre. you only really need enough sidewall to provide mounting points for the base plate. The tyre can easily be cut with a jigsaw on low speed - I think a wood cutting bit worked well the last time I did this (as long as you are not cutting the steel belts!) _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

Deffently don't use perspex. Polycarb costs the same and it won't shatter like perspex.
What are you using to drive the axe?

Tyre robots do have their benefits. Specifically very resilent armour to spinners. But they also weigh a lot, and the round shape isn't always easy to work with.
Retread actually had a full sized sports bike motorcycle front tyre. Treadware (TWI) had a box trailer tyre that I found in a council cleanup. Although this was a biatch to fit anything into, i would consider that size tyre to be better. Not sure what size a 50cc bike tyre is, but the trailer tyre was around 40cm dia I think. But usuable space was more like 30cm
Anyway, good luck. And remember scrounging stuff is a good way to throw your first bot together.

I'll agree with the minimum working space inside should be about 30cm diameter. I had to reduce my drive motors to make everything fit. _________________ They say that he crossed the fine line, from insanity to genius.

Sid: i will probly use drill motors for everything (cheap as chips) i will probly use the tin for the top and bottom. the bike tyre is roughly 45ish cm in diameter. i an not going to use all of the tyre (and will cut alot off)
Shaun (also part of the team): these are all good ideas that we will try

Drill motors totally suck for driving hammers or anything that involves an impact. Most people get 1 or 2 hits before something breaks. You would do far better with a scooter motor from Oatley electronics or a large fan motor. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

one piece of advice DONT LEAVE the rim in unless you want VERY little room to work in but it does add armour _________________ A journey of a million miles begins with a single step followed by a hell of a lot of other steps so get walking

ok all good stuff keep it coming
i have a trolly (with wheels) atyre thats huge 70cm (probly cut a bit out and oxy torch it) two wooden plates that fit over the trye (for the bottom) and some chicken wire (for the top)
will chicken wire work as a top armour as the tyre will take most of the attacks away? (its taller than i thought) will the wire work as a Just in case thing
i will look into the scooter motors from Oatley (what are they called as i cant find "scooter" motors??)
