What kind do you want 100W or 200/300W ones
the 100W ones are lighter and smaller then the 200W(which are a pain in the ass to use for feathers especialy tires)
i have about 5/6 of each

$75 worth

i (think) i picked up a bargain

a four channel remote control and soldering iron (with proper stand) for $75

http://robowars.org/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=1444

whats more i have inquired about the IBC as i wanted somthing tested and made for this (no twitching)

so that leaves me with $115ish left for motors that i can buy before chrissy
any comments/replys/advise much apretiated

p.s. i think this robot is the lowest budget around Rolling Eyes

cheap asses usually just use the servos that come with the radio for a dodgy form of speed control (all on all off ) Razz

Nah having an ibc dosnt mean you will win if you still suck at driving you could just use servo switching and get alot of practise which = better driving and cheaper
so when you do get the ibc you will be better at driving and still get to drive Very Happy
my robot was built for $65 + what ever the batteries cost me and that was from having nothing

I resemble that remark!!! Smile

But seriously, Robort was built for around $40-$50, which mostly consisted of XU1 and assorted threaded rod and nuts (that's right, so tight ass that we bought threaded rod instead of bolts).

And Robort won its first event, and proved to be the bane of Basilisk/Jolt's predecessor in many a further match.

But I certainly wouldn't say 1/3 of the field's robots are under $50. I would say most people's first robot starts out at about $50-100 not including radio. We already had radio gear, servos, most construction materials. It certainly can be done for that price, but requires resources and scrounging.

Just read through your build report and couldn't find any mention of what sort of batteries you are going to use.
If you are going to use the 100w scooter motor combos from Oatley Electronics ( http://secure.oatleyelectronics.com//product_info.php?cPath=53&products_id=193&osCsid=e08b1cff9a8abda6a59664a3b761150b )
then perhaps you could use the Scorpion XL controller from Robot Market Place in the US, this controller handles up to a maximum of 28V and 12.5A per channel and its only $120US plus postage.

Several people in Victoria are using the Scorpion XL (me, Gary and George) and since the motors only take around 6A fully loaded, they will work fine.

You would also need to factor in the price of the extra parts to triger the hammer if you didnt have the IBC's weapon chanel
